Yep - I know I've mentioned the now dreaded h-word!
As you are all much more widely travelled than both my fiancee and I we thought we'd pick your brains for some recommendations for accommodation in St Lucia?
That and a query as to transfers, I see VS include them in their holidays and BA obviously don't but any suggestions where best to pre-book these?
Randomly the alternative is Boston... might not be as relaxing but comes highly recommended with the added advantage of now hurricane season to contend with!

Try www.bestattravel.co.uk- we use them for all of our main holidays. We got 10 days, all inclusive in St.Lucia for last August for £2,000pp, CW flights and transfers included. They are excellent and offer big flight discounts!

Henkybaby I did indeed search for St Lucia, and read the many TR's just felt there wasn't a huge emphasis on the accommodation side and more the CW side, which we are fully intending on enjoying!

We are off to Calabash Cove in April which was at the end of weeks of research. :)
We booked the hotel through www.tropicalbreeze.co.uk.

I am sure I saw some. Here is one: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club/1192195-ot-jalousie-plantation-st-lucia-hotel-tr.html
I wasn't criticizing you. St. Lucia just happened to come up a lot with the F offer.

DH and I can highly recommend Bang Between the Pitons - or if that one is no longer with us - the Anse Chastenet.... both very romantic
(we were going to do the deed itself on the beach at Anse Chastenet - but that's another story....)

True... :D
We are contemplating the idea of 4 nights in Barcelona for a city break in June which is at £400 with ET flights right from JER but we just need to hope that the parents can get the time off!

Work?
ET?
Dirty words, go and wash your mouth with soap!! :D
I will admit to having looking looked at Barcelona, but not in ET ;)

Thanks for posting the link to my TR henkybaby.
Jalousie is just awesome.
As for the rest of you ... is there anything for "Senior Citizens" who can't be arrsed to sit on a beach all day getting sunburned?
We have both served in 'tropical climes', and I was educated [for a couple of years] in Jamaica. Sitting in the sun is NOT a novelty! :D

Bang was the restaurant owned by Lord Glenconner - now closed though. It was just by the Jalousie. Anse Chastenet is OK but nowhere as nice as the Jalousie which we love - wonderful location for a honeymoon. If the villas are too expensive have a look at the Sugar Mill rooms. Some very good accurate reviews on Tripadvisor.

CE is an extra £150pp... can't really say no to that one! Obviously some education does come into it, as I am very keen on doing Spanish at uni :) Also my parents have never been there before and I have, so I will be the "tour guide" :L
When they go to the Sagrada Familia, you can guarantee me to be sitting by the hotel pool that day, been there seen it done it! We are looking at staying in the EuroPark hotel- only 3* but it has rave reviews on Trip Advisor and we have some family friends who stayed there and said it was fantastic!
And T8191, what is wrong with sitting on the beach? Any chance to sit on a beach I take straight away, hence the 2 week holiday in the Caribbean in July!

We got married there in 2004 (thanks BA Holidays!) although we only flew WT and  . We stayed at Anse Chastanet, which was great - not least because we got upgraded to one of the top suites :). You can spend itme chilling on the beach, and there are a few excursions you can do that the hotel organise if you want (hiking in the jungle, boat trips, visit to Soufriere and the hot springs etc).
If we did it again we'd seriously think about a helicopter transfer - the roads are NOT fun and from the airport in the South to Anse Chastanet was about an hour of fast driving, twisty roads and steep drops!

Glad you spotted the fact that it'll be Hurricane season, and 11th September is around 'peak week' so you can expect some weather in the region. But then you'll be on your Honeymoon so the weather not too critical surely, and if you get a good storm you'll have an adventure thrown in for free.
I've only been to Boston in the snowy winter. It's a nice place, good city to walk around, historical but I wouldn't call it especially romantic. I guess a house for the week at Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard would be nice.
Whatever you do enjoy it.
I stayed in a Hibiscus Suite at Windjammer Landing (http://www.windjammer-landing.com/accommodations/hibiscus.asp)last year.
It was excellent - I even wrote a review (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g147343-d149215-r58163507-Windjammer_Landing_Villa_Beach_Resort-Castries_St_Lucia.html).

Back in 1992 - Bang between the Pitons was a small very luxurious hotel, then owned by (I think) Peter de Savary (sp?) - we were considering it for our wedding - but unfortunately the price (exclusivity doesn't come cheap :( ) was the deciding factor - hence why the Anse Chastanet came top...
We did stay there for a night while we were on another hol to St Lucia just to see it - and it WAS lovely and worth every penny - shame its gone.....or even the restaurant - magical spot

It does look nice but the Jalousie is fabulous especially in it's stunning location right between the Pitons. You are however not going to win many friends around here with this statement about the food - ''very familiar to a British traveler, probably a bit too bland for an American traveler'':D.
Carolyn - I stand corrected - when Lord Glenconner bought the Jalousie from the Hilton he must have also bought the Bang and turned it into a restaurant - it was still open on our first visit in 2006 but closed last year - I think one of the new villas in the Glenconner Beach development is going to be built on the site.

Very strange that since you joined FT last month all 4 of your posts have been recommending Calabash Cove - even one that was started in the BA forum:confused:.

To be fair, he/she has replied in threads specifically asking for recommendations, and the posts don't seem to be any more a spam than my post, which was just a pointer to where I settled on.

Intersting though that he/she found the post on the BA forum - are they reading reading every forum and then only responding if with a recommendation for Calabash Cove - weird I think!

Noo you guys! I'm not spamming for the resort, at all. I have a honeymoon planned there and we're really excited, especially since it's coming up soon. I did just join FT a month ago (as I'm a big travel guy, on A.net too) but I did a search for Calabash Cove and honeymoon spots to see if there are any threads with a trip report from someone who went to the resort. Since I saw people asking about honeymoon places, I thought I'd mention the resort we're going to because I spent MONTHS researching honeymoon places. Calabash Cove is a new resort that I didn't find right away, and I think it's a hidden gem. I just kept mentioning it in various threads so I could "pay it forward" and help someone else out by suggesting a resort that I find to be a great spot.
I'm not spamming at all, just very excited about our honeymoon spot and giving recommendations.

We're flying out a week before, on the 3rd. I'm hoping it's as nice as it looks too - but so far, all the tripadvisor comments & pictures have been nothing but positive.
Are you staying for a week? Cottage or suite?

I bet! We're up for 7, so it'll be even quicker. We're in a cottage, so it'll probably be even harder to leave! Have a great time!
