I quote the story since the URL is subject to change and it's a small one at this point:
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Pittsburgh International Airport was evacuated for about 40 minutes this morning after security screeners noticed a suspicious device in a passenger's luggage, authorities said.
The device, while still being investigated by police, was not a bomb, said JoAnn Jenny, spokeswoman for the Allegheny County Airport Authority.
About 120 people, including passengers and employees, were evacuated after 6:10 a.m. and were let back in about 6:50 a.m., Jenny said.
Few flights were delayed, Jenny said.

I had a patient the other day who is a TSA agent at PHL. I cornered him for a long talk after dealing with his health issue. He said the other day a man checked two heavy suitcases, left to go through security, and had to be paged to return to the ticket area. Seems they contained most of the parts for an automobile engine. The passenger was clueless.

These stupid a-holes once again followed the tried and true "evacuate first, think later" routine.
One day these pinheads are going to get a lot of people killed when someone is waiting outside for all the evacuees with a real bomb.
Screw you, Admiral Loy. You're an imbecile.

Story on local news station: They scanned a bag and thought it looked like a bomb, but it really was a few photo books along with two cell phone chargers (ie the wires) right next to them.
They were so sure it's a bomb the bomb squad came out and the landside terminal was evacuated.
After the article there were the prerequisite meatheads saying "Oh, it's ok, at least I'm safer than before 9/11" These people makes me want to throw a brick at my TV (or at them)... and we were told to pack our bags so they wouldn't mistake them for bombs !!! And TSA said 'this proves the system works'. Ugh.
I've had a similar thing reported to me when I was walking through with carry-on -- the guy told me the way everything was settled in my bag, it looked suspicious, so they had to check it out. It was because I had a couple of batteries next to my cell phone cable. Of course, in my case, they investigated, found it wasn't a bomb, and we all moved on with our life.

I have a small folding tripod that's VAGUELY pistol-shaped when it's folded up. When I say vague, I mean "you really need to stretch your imagination to see it".
So naturally TSA agents had to go through my bag when they saw it, for just that reason. "Are you carrying a weapon in this bag?" I understand the "better safe than sorry" thing, but sheesh.
