If I buy a UA ticket to fly US metal and use the my US DM number to credit miles, can I still e-upgrade using my status window (SP), or am I stuck into standby at the gate (and if so, can I still use e-upgrades)? I don't see anything on the US site that references this situation.

A "Mileage Run"... is that what they're called? I've been doing them for years and didn't know they had a name.

No, you will standby at the gate.

I have been told the same thing that you do not get your advance window to upgrade. However, they did it for me once when I call 3 days in advance on a discounted fare. So I would try. My situation was UA ticket on US metal with US flight numbers.
