I'm traveling to buenos aires in april and have been offered a buddy pass. I fly multiple times per year to BsAs but have never used a buddy pass before I usually buy tickets. I'm wondering if Around $500 + tax is a good price for a buddy pass? Or should I just pay $1150 for the roundtrip from Atlanta to EZE? Thanks for your advice in advance!

Welcome to Flyertalk, CBreezy82!
Is this a buddy pass from a friend who is also an airline employee? If it is, you'll need to find out from the friend how the pass works, since they usually work on a space-available basis. Which means that you don't get to reserve a seat in advance. You'll show up at the gate and if there's a seat open, that's what you get. And if it's a full flight- sorry, you're not going anywhere that day.
So $500 is a good fare to BsAs, but it comes with a lot of risk as well. It's up to you to decide if the risk is worth it or not.

The employee who offered you the buddy pass will be able to check how many seats are available on the flights you will try to take. Keep in mind that cargo loads out of Buenos Aires can be very heavy and occasionally the flight can be weight restricted. That could mean that even if there are empty seats a buddy pass rider may not be boarded. This condition is more frequent in the summer months.:(

Depends on the airline and where you're leaving from. If there are 2 or 3 flights a day and an entire day looks good in the relatively near future, I'd say... maybe. Depends on how flexible you are with your dates. Keep in mind too, many of those in the airline system don't list themselves on flights until the last week before departure, sometimes the last hour, and on a buddy pass you are bottom (absolute rock bottom) of the totem poll.
Honestly, for $500, I would just buy the ticket- and yeah 500 for a buddy pass sounds a little expensive to me.
Though.... if this is on DL and your friend says the plane is wide open, it might be worth it since you have a better chance of getting seated in first than in coach when flying int'l on delta with a pass.

Are you going to pay 500 for the buddy pass? or is 500+tax (fuel charge+tax)? because if you paid 500+tax (not extra money for your friend) I'm sure you are going to fly in Business Class ;)

Why do you say that? The buddy pass charge does not guarantee a seat in BE or even in coach. Whether he gets a seat in BE or coach has nothing to do with the fare paid.

I never said a guaranteed seat... but if is AA + int. flight with a charge of 500+, I'm 99% sure that is a BE seat ;), same thing with DL (but I forgot the charge).

PS: I never flow with a buddy pass, but few friends did it

I know on United it's an extra $20 or so if you do end up getting a seat up front.

On Delta the cost of the buddy pass is the same for coach or BE; there is no surcharge for business. Since the OP said he would be going from ATL I suspect he would do it on Delta. Therefore to say "I am sure you are going to fly in Business Class" because the fare is $500 would not be accurate.

To be sure he was going to fly anywhere would not be accurate....
