US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Is there ever upgrade avail when the window opens?

Has anyone ever cleared their upgrade at their window when using their Transatlantic upgrades? Anytime I've used them before I was able to call 3 days prior and they would open up a seat for me. Today I was told there was no need because I won't clear until at the airport.

I asked this question a while ago and there were indeed reports of the rarely-seen, mysterious, almost mythical 7-day CP transatlantic upgrade.

It seems to happen very infrequently.

I had this happen on a Feb trip PHL-FRA. There were like ten people in Envoy on that flight and a packed coach cabin. Weird.

As a CP:

PIT-FRA cleared at the three day when the desk called an "opened up" a seat.

Return AMS-PHL cleared at the CP 7 day window.

the fiancee and i are going phl-fra this week and returning next week. the outbound transatlantic leg cleared at 3 days, but i was told that the return leg looks "very good" to clear at 7 days. we'll see.
