US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - "Return Glassware to First" campaign
Since the comments of previous post indicated lack of glassware was number one on most people's list, us-cockroach has developed a project to bring attention to this shortcoming, and hopefully encourage the return of glass in FC.
US-Cockroach will declare November ”Bring Your Mug Month" and urge all cockroaches to bring their cockroach mugs with them on their November flights. When offered beverage service, the cockroaches will decline the proffered plastic ware, and instead request their cockroach mug be utilized instead.
The message behind this is Cockroaches Helping US Airways Return to Profitability. Bring your own mug and help save US Airways pennies per drink. If we present it as a customer driven cost saving measure, abet tongue-in-cheek, we could probably get support from lots of the employees.
The ultimate goal is to return glassware to FC beverage service. The Press Release will be posted on the website, as well as on FlyerTalk, as well as a heads up's to some friendly press as well.
Your input, comments and suggestions are invited!

This is just the first announcement of this campaign. With the travel schedules some of the FT members have, it might not be possible to have everything in place in the next two weeks.

The FC Dinner on US105 (PHL-SEA) included a mushroom/onion soup SERVED IN A REAL CERAMIC COFFEE CUP (soup in a coffee cup?)
But when I ordered coffee to go with the meal they served the coffee in a styrofoam cup.
Maybe I should have finished the soup, licked it clean, then asked her to pour the coffee in?

I'm clearly in the minority with this one. I so much prefer the styrofoam cups over those stupid coffee cups US used to use: The styrofoam holds about twice the amount of coffee and the coffee stays warmer longer. AA uses plastic mugs (or used to at least), which I always thought was the best idea. I always used to ask for styrofoam before US dropped glassware; FAs always used to smile and say they agreed with me on that one.

Ditto. I'd rather lobby for some better tasting coffee like Starbucks or Seattle's Best.
How about we just lobby for clean planes? I prefer that be a priority. I flew PIT-MCO yesterday first flight of the day for that plane and it was flithy even though it had set in PIT all night.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. At least the paint tracks have started up again and they are finally configuring the old Shuttle A319s/A320s to the standard configuration.

OK, we agree that we would like cleaner planes and a better quality of coffee. The question is, "What action can we take that would gain visibility and ultimately, a corporate response?"
The mug idea works. It has the potential of creating a buzz with ground crews, flight crews and the press. As much as we want to make our opinions known with management, employees could use a smile, too. Walking on board an airplane wearing surgical masks, gloves and spraying disinfectant might not be as popular.
I'm going with the mugs. If a better idea comes along, I'll do that too.

No one said anything about using the mugs just for coffee. Use the mug in place of ALL the plastic ware. For soda, a drink, whatever. And if you want coffee in volume, use the large cockroach travel mug.

Actually, I would be hysterical if I saw this. My brother refuses to eat on planes until he cleans the armrest, seat and tray. Everything is so grimy it's disgusting.
