Took VX this weekend SFO-LAS and again a great flight. One thing I've noticed is that they will never announce weather delays until it is almost time for boarding (at least the flights i've taken).

Friday I rushed to the airport only to find out that the BOS-SFO flight was delayed 3 hours so obviously SFO-LAS was delayed. They got a replacement aircraft but the flight still ended up delayed.

An hour prior to departure (VX already knew BOS-SFO was delayed) I got an alert saying the flight was ontime...great. I get to the gate and we're delayed.

Why not let passengers know ahead of time? Obviously not a weather related issue so FAA couldn't have given them an earlier wheels up time. They knew the incoming aircraft to replace the originally scheduled one would take some time but they had pax waiting there for no reason. Just a rant...still love them.

I'm trying to understand your post and I am speculating at the same time. If you are discussing a flight delay ex-SFO, and not finding out until you get to the gate, it is probably because the weather is not an issue until there is enough air traffic congestion + weather to shut down a runway at SFO. You will not know this until it happens for example, when you've reached the gate or after you've boarded. Sometimes there is no way of telling in advance that there will be a flight delay ex-SFO until one runway closes down, thus causing delays because of air traffic back-up using only one available runway.

No. VX definitely has a problem in this area. Oftentimes I have reason to know that there is a ground delay program in SFO, and they are late to communicate to the PAX.

Understandably so-the problem that is, at SFO.

SFO is a problem. But that is not the problem we are talking about.

And therefore continuing with the OPs problem? Further discussion?
