Chase Ultimate Rewards - Chase Ultimate Rewards for Hotel Redemption or Booking

I'm curious about what success you've had using Chase cards in the Ultimate Rewards program for either hotel redemptions or bookings. Were the redemption rates comparable to what individual hotel programs offer, or would it be better to transfer point to an affiliated hotel program. Do you get booking or redemption options from hotels other than Chase credit card partners?

Thanks for everyone's time!! Have 139K rewards points. What is the best value with these. Airline redemption buying travel online (50K = $600)? Hotel?? Not familar with this program so any help would be great from you experts.

Do you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, or just the Freedom? This makes a huge difference.

Because you mentioned transfer partners, I'm assuming you have the CSP. You can transfer those points to UA and, with a decent redemption rate (2-3cpm), get $3000+ airfare out of them. Same goes for transfering to BA, but you've got to be careful with their exhorbatant taxes/fuel/fees for international travel. Hotel is an option, as well, but it all depends what you need and what you'll use! Any travel plans/dreams upcoming? What airlines, hotels, or destinations are you considering/hoping for?

THANKS!!

I have Chase SP, Chase Sapphire, and Freedom - basically three chase cards. Combined points are around 139K. I can combine all the points -right??

I fly delta since I'm a Diamond with them and its our worldwide hub - have around 2 million miles so I have enough miles.

I noticed you can book travel via ultimate rewards website but redemption seems low at 50K for $600 towards your travel.

Maybe hotel is a better option. Just want a great return before they become pesos. THANKS

Unless you have upcoming travel plans I would just leave them in your UR account. Each program has their own advantages, UA to Europe, BA and WN (sometimes) domestically and hotels. Since you have so many delta miles, I think you're right that hotels would be the best option.

From the research I've been doing, (I'm in the same boat not needing to redeem points for flights) it seems like the best deal for hotels is Chase UR and their 1:1 redemption ratio with Hyatt.

For beginning at 5,000 points / night at the category 1 hotels (which let's face it, you're probably not going to be staying at) all the way up to 22,000 per night in their category 6 (Most luxurious hotels, some $1,000 per night) hotels.

Also you could get a Passport Experience with Hyatt for 145K points, which gives you 5 nights at one of the category 6 properties, combined with 5 breakfasts / 3 dinners. (Can be VERY valuable, depending on where / how you use the specific meal allowance at whichever property).

So all in all, I'd estimate, you could get as much as $5k or even $6k in hotel stays with Hyatt.

I'm applying this to my points strategy, as I earn TONS of Chase UR points, so I'm gonna be saving for a little while to take my parents to the Hyatt Maldives for their 25th anniversary.

I concur. I am a huge Priceline fan; except for conventions, I haven't booked a hotel using points or a regular rate since about 2006. But I'm using 132K points for four nights in a suite at the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris, which would usually be about $1100 a night, vs. $412 (valuing the points at 1.25 cents each) using points. I'm also thinking of a trip to Sydney, where 22K points ($275) gets a $750 room at the Park Hyatt Sydney.

The only drawback to the points is that you get their "entry level" rooms, which may not be the greatest, and they're not upgradeable. But how bad can a room at one of their premier properties be?

Yes, I could use my 132K points to buy air tickets worth $1,650. I'm sure I will remember my four days in Paris a lot longer than I'd remember $1,650 extra in my checking account.

Thanks for the feedback!! Agree with you 100%. Best value with Hyatt w Cat 6 is is NYC, Maldives, or Paris. My concern is that basic room "entry level" at these properties.

Ran into this issues (no base category rooms avaliable for one of my nights) redeeming for a room at PH in Paris. I emailed hotel directly a few weeks earlier explaining I would be willing to pay for an upgrade if they'd open a room for one of my nights. They called me and offered a significant upgrade for I think 100 EUR/ night if I were willing to upgrade for my entire stay which was 2 nights.

I just looked into using UR for a hotel booking today, and discovered that it didn't offer ANY hotels in the city I was looking at. The nearest one was 10 miles away, even though there are quite a few hotels (including major chains) in the city. :td:

How do I check availability for Hyatt Hotels using points before transferring from UR?

As far as I know, Hyatt.com still requires that you have at least enough points for one night in the property that interests you just to see if anything is available there. It's silly, but i think you can call customer service to look for you.
