California - Need Recommendations for Moderately Priced Hotels In Santa Barbara

Me and Mrs. CalVol are going to see Peter Frampton at the end of July. We'll be staying a couple of nights in Santa Barbara.

Would like some recommendations for hotels in town...preferably <$250.

You don't give the dates or even if its weekday/weekend. Did you look at Villa Rosa?

Hyatt's Hotel Mar Monte (http://santabarbara.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp?extCorporateId=) squeaks in under your $250/night cost (albeit before tax is added) for a weeknight I checked in late July. Renovations are to be complete in May. The hotel is across the street from the beach. Here's a thread on the property, though recognize all posts are about the hotel pre renovation.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in the heart of town. The location was great, the hotel not so much.

We'll be there the last weekend in July.

If you are ok with an independent we've done Hotel Santa Barbara a couple of times and liked it.
