Flying to Berlin this summer and saw that Air Berlin now has a direct flight from JFK several days a week. I know their Business Class won't be on a par with Lufthansa or Continental but it is also much less expensive.

I wonder if anyone has had any recent trans-Atlantic experience in Business Class and what your impressions are.

Thanks!

I haven't flown them, but your post prompted me to do some research and I have to say it doesn't look bad. The seats don't look on par with, say, LX new J but I'm not so sure I would put them below LH, whose outdated J seats are miserable. Aside from that, the other stuff: lounge access, decent catering, wide video choice, limo service, seems to be pretty decent! Of course on the routes I checked their prices are about the same as LX, so I think I'll stick with my alliance. :)

For me it is almost $1000.00 less. Very worth a try.

Absolutely ok for a daylight flight (and even more ok on the short hop to NY). I would be reluctant to use this service for the overnight return.

My only other direct option would be the 757 on CO-- no new flat bed seats there either.
