I need to go to SJD (Los Cabos) from NYC or MIA mid-March and fares seem to be over $900 so I thought I could fly to MEX and get domestic tickets but I can't find anything under $300 for the dates I want (March 15th-19/20). I checked Volaris, Vivaaerobus etc online and they seem to not have flights or very pricey. I'm open to flying to other cities and taking a bus for a couple hours. Anyone know of any Mexican travel agency or other ideas?
I figure I should be able to get from NYC to SJD under $700!

I just checked fares and the 15th, 16th and 17th of March seem to be the most expensive dates to depart in probably a two-month period. There must be something going on, a special event, then. For other days the fares are in the mid $500's to high $600's. I suspect the shortness of time between now and the departure date is also a reason for the higher fares.

Airfares into other entry points in Mexico have risen sharply in the past year, with the bankruptcy of Mexicana and less competition on the routes. Internal, domestsic flights are not real bargain, as you've learned.
