US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Lack of availability into Eastern North Carolina!

Currently, US/UA are offering $198 fares from PHX/SAN, etc. into various places in Eastern NC, ie into PGV, OAJ, EWN, etc. These cheap seats are booked in L/T class.

I have spent about 2 days on res system trying to book these fares into all of these cities. I have found availability to be soooo limited, even booking 3-4 months in advance, that is deserves comment.

USAIR has instituted 'marrierd segments' which prevents me from being able to get the L class from ABQ-DEN-CLT-EWN, but I can get it class from SFO-DEN-CLT-EWN for the same dates, same flights.

Capacity management is really at it!

Man, they love to advertise the low fares, but when it actually come down to it, I have found that it's incredibly hard to get them - especially into Eastern NC where SCARE has the monopoly.

So rather than just selling me a seat, I guess they're just gonna let somebody else eventually PriceLine it.

Are there more experiences w 'married segments' / high fares into eastern NC?

<BTW, I do know about flying into RDU.>

Try booking them through the UAL.COM Web site. Same flights, low fares. Sometimes those seats are still available under UA. Has worked for me a few times.

The airports east of CLT/GSO/RDU are generally pretty small (except maybe ILM) and don't have a lot of carriers or flights. The capacity doesn't really lend itself to having a lot of the cheap seats available, which usually pushes up the pricing for the people that really want to fly directly into the resort town.

I grew up near MYR, and we'd drive to CLT or RDU occasionally to get better flights and pricing, but never considered any of the other (closer) eastern NC airports.
