Does anyone know where I can find an explanation of the US fare codes? I checked a site and received:
J9 P9 C9 Y9 B9 M9 H9 K9 V9 L6 Q6
I was hoping to upgrade.
Preemptive strike: Please don't bother with the pet jokes and the K9 fare.

Obivously an intl flight. You can only see the UG inventory on SNN and DUB flights. (I class.) You have to call and ask in case you are looking for a pre-booked upgrade.
For a standby upgrade it of course looks good with 9s in all three Envoy fare classes (J,P,C)
Also use www.seatmap.com (http://www.seatmap.com) to see how many seats are already taken in C class. There could be unassigned pax but that's unlikely in C.

iirc, Envoy awards come out of I, but Envoy upgrades come from E (formerly O).
Truthfully I'm not sure:
Whether Envoy upgrades confirmed at the time of booking are I inventory; I'm pretty sure those in the 7/3/1 window are I. Whether you can check international upgrade buckets (other than by calling US).
