I’d just like to share this with everyone: Yesterday I’m returning to Philly from Columbus, OH, and I was three hours early for my flight. It just so happened that the 3:30 flight was delayed and the TA, without me asking, told me he could get me on the early flight. I asked him how much the change fee was and he said, “I’ll wave the change fee. You’re a Chairman’s Preferred, without you preferred travelers were not in business.” It’s great to know someone recognizes us and gives a d*mn. It is because of folks like this guy that US will survive.
He also got me into F/C which was really special because I was originally booked on a RJ. The only negative was that the limes were green. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Great story.
I always thought we wanted the limes green and lemons yellow. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif

If they read this, they'll probably hunt this guy down and nail him.
This happened to me going DEN-PHL. I arrived at the airport early and was within an hour of the flight prior to my scheduled one. The agent at the counter said "there's usually a fee for this, but i'm going to waive it". I think that they are probably given *some* leeway to use best judgement when a CP has a reasonable request.

Truthfully, this is why Ben still has a job. The employees at USAIRWAYS are the best. Most of the time they know what is in the airlines and flyers best interest. They will eventually overcome Bens obsticles. (Unless Ben finds a way to have all such requests go though his office first.)

I've had similiar experiences with the same comment.
If Ben would just let the frontline employees use logic and reason things would improve a lot

I had the same experience Monday, and it was due to my own stupidity.
After flying Monday am PIT-LAX for the last 4 months, I booked the 5:15pm flight, for some bizzarre reason. Since I booked it over 3 weeks ago, I, out of habit, got up at 6:30 and trekked on out the airport (I got through security - should that have happened)? It wasn't until I tried to get on the upgrade queue at the gate that the mistake was realized.
The agent did everything he could to get me on the flight, but it was so overbooked it just couldn't happen - they actually took 2 volunteers. I certainly didn't expect them to bump paying pax or pay comp just to get me on the flight. But he apologized for not being able to get me on. I told him it was completely my fault and I appreciated all of the effort he went through.
Good news - when I arrived at 4:30pm, a 1C BP was waiting for me...
