US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - How Does Web Checkin Assign Shuttle Seats

When using the web check in for a shuttle flight, you do not have the option of displaying a seat map or selecting aisle or window. Does anyone know what kind of algorithm, logic, or preference data the system uses to assign shuttle seats with web check in?

Another difference on shuttle is you can only print a bp online day of departure, where as for mainline or express you can print the bp 24 hours before the flight.

I have used it twice on the BOS-DCA shuttle and it plopped me in 3C (F class) both times. I suspect that I have an aisle preference somewhere on usairways.com -- it's been a few years.

The same day requirement must be highly annoying if you have an early am departure.

I had a different experience. I had 4 people in the same PNR and they assigned us all windows (I dont remember the exact lettering but it was something like 11A, 11F, 12A and 12F).

I called to complain to web services and they did not seem to care/understand. I sent a letter off to the new CEO and got no response. Oh well, I will check-in with the Kiosk.

Yeah. The USAirways.com folks generally aren't helpful with that sort of item. I have had one or two helpful agents there, but if I remember correctly, none work for US, but are contractors

Maybe you all have window as your preferred seat. Could even be the default setting.

On my shuttle flights (DCA-BOS-DCA), I have not used web check in, but when I check in at the counter the day of flight, I have been pre-assigned 3C every time (which means that they must be assigning shuttle seats like upgrades on non-shuttle flights - from the rear of the FC cabin forward.) No problem, tho, in changing seats at the airport.
