Florida - cheap hotel in Miami

I am looking at some cheap hotels in Miami.

I was thinking maybe a hotel near MIA airport with a shuttle will save money on transfers to and from airport.
I understand that bus #7 takes me to downtown which is ok.

Any ideas where to stay?

Your best bet is at the airport. Some of the cheap hotels in South Beach are scary and you might be listening to rap/hip hop to 4AM. I often stay out at the airport and just rent a car to South Beach.

Will I spend a long time transferring from airport to downtown or miami beach for example? How long does it take?

It is my first time in Miami so what are the musts to visit in Miami?

MIA airport to Downtown is about 10 minutes and another 10 minutes to South Beach. However, double those times from early afternoon to evening during the week because of traffic.

Finally I decided for Princess Ann hotel in SoBe....it was good price 100$ compared to a hotel near airport that was 50$ cheaper for a 3 night stay...
