Will be flying from Kauai (on Hawaiian) to Honolulu to make a connection on Continental to Newark under seperate reservations. Can I check a bag in Kauai all the way to Newark?

Also, if you are elite and have your old elite baggage tag from your trip to HNL, save it and ask the HA agent to put it on your bag. In most cases, you'll get your bags faster in EWR, if you're lucky ;) As well, you might be able to get a tag from the UA agent in LIH, if you ask nicely and have your CO boarding pass in hand.
