Read the story...odd...glad I don't fly Quantas.....

Have had situations before with a friend or family member was in the back whom I was unable to upgrade. I believe in each instance the FA in first almost without exception, when asked ,has provided a cocktail to bring back to my friend.

Good business, has cost them pennies, but is one of the things that really builds loyalty.

I still try to fly US only whenever possible.

The real question why did this guy sit up front, while leaving the lady in the back. A gentleman would have done it vice versa.

I agree with Babu. This guy sounds like a real jerk!

I am glad BBB swooped in and saved us from all of our pending ice cream rage incidents. . .I can now rest assured that when I flip out over the IFC--I can throw my plastic glass and not hurt anyone http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I see this error too often, so at the risk of sounding like a pedant, I'll offer the following: Folks, It is spelled QANTAS --- once and for all. It is an acronym, not a word. In this case, it stands for Queensland And Northern Territories Air Service. Thank yuouou.

Just out of curiousity, is it a crime to not obey a flight attendant when what they tell you to do something that has nothing to do with airplane safety, health, etc.?

Do you have to obey an order by them without question? I'd love to look at the FAA's administrative guidelines on it - maybe I will at the law library next time I'm there.

The guy paid for the food, why shouldn't he be able to share it with someone in economy. It's not like he's asking for 2.

Sounds like the people at Qantas are real jacka$$es.

Edit: What does this have anything to do with US Airways?

We used to get ice cream in F on trans-cons. Now we don't. Inquiring minds have long wondered "why?" Now we know. Ben's market research has clearly shown that somebody might try to sneak it back to coach thereby debasing the value of the product. He's protecting us from ourselves!

No qualifiers attached to what constitutes "duties."

Far 121.580. The citation I found is here (http://www1.faa.gov/asd/international/TSO_FAR_AC/far-121%20-%20Notepad.pdf). <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Sec. 121.580 Prohibition on interference with crewmembers.
No person may assault, threaten, intimidate, or interfere with a crewmember in the performance of the crewmember's duties aboard an aircraft being operated under this part.
