Germany - Changes to U.S. Security at FRA?

When I connected from SZG to a U.S. flight in January, I noticed that the security checkpoint seemed to be gone. I went through passport control but no other security.
Last June I had to take off my shoes, no 3 oz. liquids, etc. when connecting to a U.S. flight. When did this change? Or did I just find some backwards way into the U.S. flight area?

Security checks to connecting pax have been lifted a few months ago.

One thing I've noticed is that the US carriers still seem to make use of the idiot contract security personnel and their pseudo-El Al pre check-in interrogations, while if you fly Lufthansa, you walk right through to your flight without playing stump the chump.

True. But US carriers are soooo much safer since they ask the intelligent questions ahead of time.
"Has anybody put anything without your knowleadge into your suitcase?" :D

Same at AMS. Security theatre at its finest.
