As I'm travelling with a companion and therefore wished to sit together but with neither of us wanting to have a middle seat for the long journey from LHR-AUK in economy class. I was advised to book seats at the back of the plane where there are about 3 rows of just 2 seats together. I have booked seats 53A/B.
Does anyone have any experience of what these seats/area are like as since booking I have read that there is an IFE box in the middle of the floor space underneath the seat in front which impacts on where you can put your feet?

this is my favorite seating areas. Unlike many others, i prefer to sit WAYYY back (maybe it gives me more opportunity to chat up with stewardesses :p).
I prefer it not only for doubles, but also because i wouldn't have to bother other passengers by declining my seat completely.
I have not noticed any of the concerns you have raised. Certainly not to a level where it becomes bothersome, so I think you wouldn't have any issue enjoying those seat with your beloved one.

We sat in those seats on the way back from AKL.
There is a box under the seat, but because of all the space at the side of the seat there really isnt any impact on space.
Those seats were really comfortable - and it was very easy to get in and out.
I would chose the seats again

What a coincidence you were in those seats. Thanks for putting my mind at ease regarding the box as I had read a report with pic that showed the box took up half the space of the seat in front. I'm not so worried now, I had thought I had made a big mistake in booking those seats.
