So glad to see AA moves here.
Details on the opening event are up now:

Thanks, we signed up for the open house!
Thanks for posting. SFO is fast becoming one of the world's great airports. It wasn't that long ago that it was pretty awful. Now only T1 and the old AA part of T3 are lagging.

And that little runway issue..... But if you are going to be stuck for awhile, and are hungry, want museum artifacts of interest. or just want to walk around an entire airport (I don't know of any other that forms a complete enclosed loop), SFO is the place to go!

Yes, that runway issue probably isn't going away any time soon, if ever.

It's supposed to, they are allegedly going to break ground sometime not too far off on a second parallel runway far enough away. It's supposed to be made on land reclaimed from the bay.

Really? I thought they gave up on that in the face of environmentalists' opposition. I haven't followed it in years. I recall that SFO made some offer to do something offsetting in another part of the bay, and that proposal was rejected.
It'd be great if everyone could work this out.

Singed up for the 1-2pm slot of the open house. Since I fly AA, I hope that the AC will have an open house as well.
Can't wait to check this out ^ The fact that US and CO will no longer be in their current horrendous terminal is a great perk too.

Does anyone know if there will be an airside connection between 2 and 3?

I don't know, but I really doubt it based on what I can see of the layout. Plus there is no particular need to connect VX and AA gates with UA's.

No, but it sure would be nice to have about half the airport behind the same checkpoints. It also gives those with RCC access some lounge availability when flying VX. Now, I use the CO PC, which is going the way of, well...
It's a bit sad news for me since Virgin America will no longer be in the international terminal, for some reason I like it the most.

For obvious reasons. SFO's International Terminal is bright, spacious and beautiful. The food offerings are much better than a typical airport. And if you have time to kill, there is an interesting aviation museum and usually some noteworthy exhibits in the main hall. Can't get much better than that terminal.

No, it can't, but I have a feeling that new T2 is going to be a happy space to visit, food included.

It does indeed. Now if they would get to work on T1.

Even though I have no more status on AA I'm contemplating flying them on an upcoming San Francisco trip to check out this new terminal. It looks great ^

Flying into T2 last weekend was great--everything looked so NEW and CLEAN. I was a bit less happy with the departure from it. It still looked great, but Lark Creek Grill (which is I think the only sit-down restaurant) was having teething problems (apparently one week in, 2 servers called in sick), so they weren't seating anyone for some time, even though there were many empty tables and spots at the bar. Service was abominably slow, even with the restaurant only one-fourth full. We would probably have fared better at one of the take-out places (all of which seemed to be jammed, though).
