US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Unnecessary business trips just for the miles or mileage runs on business trips?

Just curious: has anyone ever made an unnecessary business trip just to earn miles? Or has anyone turned a routine business trip into a mileage run?

Just wanted to see how far people would go!

I was on vacation this week in SAN. I flew home to PIT on the Sunday red-eye then caught the 9:30a back to LAX.

I did have to drag the luggage from the airport to the parking shuttle bus, but I think MrsGP could have handled that if I wanted to just drive the couple hours from SAN to LAX. But that would have been about 8,000 miles lost.

Unnecessary business trip just to earn miles? Heck no. That would be unethical and may be fraudulent.

You need status miles? After last year, I would have thought you had requalified for CP status for the next few years.

Need them? No - 1.3M in my bank should keep me flying for awhile and I'm pretty safe for CP next year (and I'm not counting on excess carry-over this year, but I'm hoping for it)

Pass on them when available? No - I think it has become a disease. Any FF Anonymous chapters in PIT? Or anywhere else US flys....
