Hey all! Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, i just arrived home this morning. I guess the reson for this post is to get a list of the correct people in order to send a letter regaurding unsatisfactory sevice. Sorry is this post is long :-( Let me start my short, well hopefully short, story by saying that i love USAir, i have been flying them for years and are the only airline i fly. However, i recently had a fairly bad experience and am about to write them a letter. I am a lowly no-preffered DM member, i seem to fly just under the requirements for elite status. I was flying RDU-PHL-PVD and the plane to RDU to pick us up was delayed, they told us we were not going to make our connection and happily put us on a Delta flight they also said that our bags would not arrive, i was going with my girlfriend= lots o luggage. This was understandable and i was happy they got us on a flight. When i arrived in PVD i went to speak with the USAir baggage people regaurding delivery, they refused to help me track my bags, they said it was deltas issue not theirs - first problem, i would expect them to atleast aid in the location of my bags, i am their customer. Delta glady helped get me my bags. To my amusement the Delta employees knocked USAir about as much as they could when i was speakign with them. On the return trip when i arrived at the airport i got put on the standby list for upgrades, before boarding i was told there were no F seats available, i was okay with this. Until i got up during my flight to use the head and saw there were 4 seats available in F -- second problem, not that it is a long flight, but when i specifically ask to be upgraded, have the paperwork to do it, and they have the room, dont deny me. Then when i arrived in RDU they seemed to have lost about half the planes baggage, luckily this time they were willing to help me in the location of my things, there were no big flops in this flight, but i just felt like a person not worthy of their time. I am aware that bags get lost and flights get cancelled, but i was bothered by some of the things that happened. Not that i am about to change airlines, since they have been good in the past, but this is definately a lower notch of service that i would expect. Sorry about the long post, but again who should i write to? thanks all

The baggage issue on the first part of your journey is dissapointing to hear. US should have been eager to help you locate your baggage.
As a non-preferred DM member, US has no reason to put you in the first class cabin, especially if coach is not filled.
On your return trip, did you fly the dates when the PHL baggage system was malfunctioning (BTW, I hear that the baggage problem may have been intentionally done by a certain political figure in PHL)

I think you're being a little harsh. I can't address the upgrade issues, except to say that the computer might show FC fully checked in, but perhaps some connections were missed or something like that. The US staff is far and away much better than ANY of their competition, I assure you.
Regarding the baggage issue, unfortunately the US agents were correct. The responsibility for baggage relies on the airline who actually carried you, not the airline you might have originally been booked on. Therefore the US agent was correct in referring you to DL for your baggage. With the problems in PHL right now with baggage, the US person in PVD might have just been having a bad day.
I think that the DL person actively badmouthing a competitor is unprofessional and uncalled for. THAT is something I would write about.
I hope you have better luck next time you try US--they're worth it.

I flew through PHL today, however i am hearing PHL baggage was a nightmare today. I know i am a non-elite, however i did have valid upgrade vouchers DS0079, and i would expect them to be honored. However, i can see it as a computer malfunction. I am not trying to be harsh i like USAir a lot and it is the only airline i fly, and i do fly a lot about 19,000 miles a year. The delta employees were being rude, i was quite offended and turned off of the airline by this display, just another reason to fly USAir However, i wish that the USAir rep in providence had been more helpful since US did actually bring my baggage into the city.. I just felt that they didnt give me the helpful service i have come to expect from them, i think it is a shame that a dedicated USAir flyer, even though i dont fly an outrageous amount, and to those that spend that much of there year doing so, i salute you and do think you deserve more in terms of accomadations. I guess i am just dissappointed. I dont want it to come across as i am a whiner, i just had a bad experience and was looking for a way to vent. thanks all! Happy flights!

JLM, this is slightly off-topic, but if you charge $25,000 or more a year on your credit cards, you may want to consider applying for a Dividend Miles Visa Platinum Card. It costs $90/year, but you get 10,000 preferred miles after you reach $25,000 in actual purchases (i.e. not counting interest charges on outstanding purchases). The extra 10,000 preferred miles + your 19,000 actual miles flown would get you silver status. You also get a transferrable US Airways club pass good for one visit, and a $99 companion ticket voucher. Of course, if you're prone to credit card debt I would highly advise against getting this card, as the interest rate is outrageous.
