TAM just placed an order for two B777-300ER and 32 A320 series (of which 22 are neo). This is not a surprise, and is intended to keep TAM growing.

Shouldn't they streamline their widebody fleet? They have B767, B777 and A330. Wouldn't one type be enough?

I am sure they do not have the intention to retain the B767 for too long. For the moment they're both cheap and available so they allow growth. BB777-300ER is long range and high capacity so can handle long and dense routes that the A330 cannot. Longer term I would expect them to move mostly to the A350 or B787 but there is some time before significant delivery would be available for TAM on either of those. They have bought time with the B777-300ER. They already did buy the next generation with the A320NEO.
