Fairmont President's Club - Fairmont cutting back on comped Platinum?

Hello all,

After three years of Platinum, I see that I've been dropped down to Premier. I earned Plat on nights, and then got two renewals on minimal usage. Their strategy to keep me hooked paid off, because in 2010 I gave all of my possible business travel to Fairmont (big fan of the Pacific Rim, BTW).

However, I only booked enough nights for Premier and my profile shows that I've lost the Plat status. I assume that the end of the recession has resulted in tighter loyalty requirements. Is this a common experience for folks this renewal cycle?

What you say is true, I've confirmed with the Platinum desk. Last year during the recession, they comped those with Platinum status based even on just one stay.. basically to get the juices flowing. The only exceptions made this year, is if you're pretty close but didn't make the threshold, you would be bumped up to the next tier. It was pretty sweet for the past 5 years being comped this way, but business is booming, rates are as affordable as ever, and I guess FPC decided not to complimentary maintain status this year based on a low amount of stays.. which btw would be in accordance with the T&C.. and Fairmont's generosity is their choice.

Enough promos out there if you're serious about being a Plat. Check out 'all' the ways to elite status and methods to elite status on my Facebook group if you want to score on enhancements.

Hindsight 20/20 - The Passions Enhancement for Platinum is quite rich.. Free round of golf is worth $230, Fairmont Moments discount $100, etc. You get four choices, so potentially $600 value.. I can see why FPC is clamping down who qualifies and who doesn't.

Note Fairmont Moments is 3rd Party, and it was a nightmare for us at CLL last year.
