Hey guys,

My friends and I are planning our first trip to Vegas!! It will be a three night getaway in last 1/3 of June. Your advise will be highly appreciated.

So far we have narrowed down the Hotel choices to either bellagio or MGM grand (not skyloft or signature) based on budget, pictures and reputation.

Bellagio ++ are (618 for 3N @ deluxe king):
1- Rooms seems nicer
2- It seems to be centrally located according to the map.
3- I can book it through AmEx and get FHR benefits which means a possibility of getting an upgrade to a better room + other stuff

MGM ++ are (385 for3N @ deluxe king or west wing):
1- Rooms are nice, but bellagio seems nicer
2- cheapest one

Caesars Palace (565 for 3N @ classic room or roman tower):
1- Seems to be located well
2- The rooms look nice on pictures

My questions are:
1- Which one would you choose?
2- Will we be disappointed if we go to MGM and not Bellagio or Caesars?
3- Is the MGM located well
4- Do you guys have any other suggestions that we should take into consideration?

Thanx

your pro & con comparison is well done but to answer you we'd need a lil biographical info. Ages of the guys what you expect from the trip ect.

3 guys, all 28.

I've never been to vegas before, but I would expect us to dine in nice restaurants, enjoy in what Vegas has to offer at night in terms of clubs and casinos and checking out events if there are any interesting going on at those 3 nights.

Since Suites are too expensive, we'll most probably get 3 rooms :D

A suite might be around the cost of 3 rooms just something to look into. Calling the hotel and asking of they have any club specials that include entrance into their own club can be advantageous. Caesars does that. I suggest MGM, Palm or Encore at the Wynn. Being 28 myself I stay at the Wynn or MGM when I go. They're fun and central to other Casinos, Clubs/Entertainment. Bellagio is quite beautiful and was the first place I stayed at in Vegas. But it's not central to getting to other places. Caesars is impressive but not as much fun as the 3 I listed above.

Agree that Bellagio is probably not the right choice for you.

Encore is likely outside the budget.

For you demo, Caesars or MGM -- both have good pools and lots to do. Might consider Mandalay Bay which has a great pool but it out of the way. If you want to spend a lot of time checking out other places, then I'm stick with Caesars or MGM.

Bellagio is the most elegant of the bunch -- it's not really Party Central.

For you guys, with your budget, MGM is fine but be aware it's at the south end of the Strip, not centrally located. The only major property any further south is Mandalay Bay / THE hotel (which might also be worth a look if you're not worried about location).

I'd look at Caesar's first. It's just north of Bellagio, smack in the middle of everything.

Have you thought about Rio or The Palms?

Thanx alot guys for your feedback.

Wynn I can get through FHR or Infinite concierge and sometimes with decent offers. Is it the same or comparable experience if I don't take the encore rooms?

Walk out the door at the MGM and go to Hooter and stay and save a buck, more fun. who stays in a room....ck out The Hotel if you do.

Are the rates you mention above through FHR for Bellagio? I ask because FHR usually include 2x$20 per day breakfast coupons and either an $85 lunch credit or $100 spa credit, which can alter the value calculation. Bellagio also has a tram to Monte Carlo and the Aria complexes.

Ceasars classic/Roman tower rooms can be small with awful views. Most folks want either Palace or Augustus tower rooms (newer/better furnished). In my opinion, the premium for Caesars is not worth it over the MGM, and the difference between Caesars and Bellagio would make me stay at Bellagio.

MGM is probably the best value, certainly the lowest price, and may offer room upgrades at check in, based on availability (midweek being much easier than weekend). MGM is on the monorail, so easy to get up and down that side of the strip. MGM has the most dining options, Bellagio's offerings are more upscale. Ceasars is somewhere in the middle.

MGM has more night clubs, Caesars has PURE, Shadow and that Cleopatra dancing barge thing. I would rate both of those above Bellagio, which really only has the Bank, and the Fontana and Caramel lounges, which I think most folks would agree are better with a date/wife than a group of guys.

You don't mention time of year, but if pools are an interest to your group, the Bellagio has three pools all at different temperatures, Caesars pool complex is overall nicer, both are more upscale than MGMs (though MGMs is much larger).

While not on your list, I would encourage you to think about Mirage if pool is important and TI if pool is not. A "vibe" more in tune with the 25-30 yr old crowd.

Hope this helps!

The Wynn is fine without Encore. Encore is just a little more refined and catered towards people of our ages and social desires.

To sum up (so far) for a small group of guys:

1- MGMgrand good value, good night life but the pool isn't that great (hows the crowd in the hotel? Are they similarly aged).

2- Wynn: More expensive, very good night life, but what about the pool?

3- Bellagio: Fancy, more romantic, has 3 very good pools.

Another question, between the West wing and the grandtower rooms which one is better if they are similarly priced? (MGM)

Will you guys be playing poker? The poker room has a wonderfully young crowd.

The Grand Tower is much better. It has larger rooms and includes in-room safes. See another thread on this topic in this forum.

What dates are you going and are those fixed? Caesar's Palace isn't that nice unless you get an upgraded room, MGM is good for price, nice crowd, nice pool, but bad location. Bellagio is always good, but kinda expensive.

MGM is "fine." Even the location isn't as bad as people making it out to be. They have the Wet Republic party at the pool if you want that type of an environment.

Bellagio is certainly nicer and obviously more expensive. Everything will probably be a little more expensive at Bellagio (i.e., restaurants, bar, cafes) so you have to factor that in as well. (Offset by any benefits from FHR).

Mirage would also probably be a good choice for the demo, should be priced between MGM/Bellagio.

You might also want to consider Aria for your trip.

Nice pool, okay club, good casino, and a large young clientele.

I'm guessing price may not be your deciding point but if it is don't forget to factor in the hidden daily "resort fees".

Bellagio $20.00
Wynn $20.00 (does not apply to suite upgrades)
MGM Grand $18.00

Caesar's Palace & Harrahs are part of an ownership that so far does not charge a daily resort fee.

I'm not sure how it is done for the resorts above but when I was looking at the Venetian I got to the final booking page where it listed my prices and the "Grand Total" but even that did not include the resort fees. You had to manually download the PDF file and that contains the Terms and Conditions and hidden in there was a note about $17+taxes for a daily resort fee.

There is a complete list at:
