US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-2005 America West merger) - E-upgrades - not earned when on United?

I don't know if you all realized or not, but I have pretty much been flying US or UA indiscriminatly thinking it really didn't matter, but when I went to check my upgrade bank, I realized I hadn't received any after passing my 10,000 miles flown. So, I started researching and saw this:

"Members earn four 500-mile E-Upgrades for every 10,000 paid miles flown on flights operated by US Airways."

So, I guess this means any miles flown on UA somehow do manage to count for earning preferred status but DONT count when earning preferred upgrades. That stinks.

From a UA perspective it's rather obvious. Being able to earn preferred miles on UA on any *A partner, one still has to fly their metal to earn the upgrades. This carried over to the US relationship. It does make sense.

Yup. Unfortunately, this is the case. I've been flying on UA quite a bit and realized this as well. So if the fine print says "operated by US", then we should probably get miles on UA tickets on US metal. I haven't confirmed it though.

Sandeep.
