Before someone says: Hey, this is India, what do you expect? I am the first to acknowledge that things just don't happen as fast in India most of the time as they might elsewhere. Having said that, that is no excuse for executing the basics in a 5 star hotel.
The staff here are great, gracious, anticipatory and accommodating. But what is the deal with those elevators?!
They have three elevators, one of which is under constant repair. 3 months minimum before it is back in service, as of my recent stay, according to one knowledgeable staffer. The other two have two independent call button systems so you have to press two sets of call buttons to call both of the remaining two not knowing which will arrive at your floor first. However, when one arrives, the call for the other does not clear resulting in multiple stops for previously satisfied calls.
So, with one-third of the elevator capacity down the remaining two are essentially half as efficient as statistically half their stops are unnecessary. If you don't enjoy 5-10 minute waits for the elevator you may want to think twice about staying here. It's a shame because it is one of the nicer ICs I have stay at, aside from this problem.
FYI, Ambassadors get upgraded from a standard room to a Club room. The Club is not very large but has an outside deck at the top of the hotel which is a nice variation. The staff is attentive and the cocktail hour has a very nice selection although not as extensive as the IC Singapore.
