If I fly on an Air Canada flight that is a UA codeshare, and my ticket has the UA flight #, can I earn US miles?

No. Not until USAirways is admitted into the StarAlliance.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't know that an AC flight with a UA # was treated differently than a UA flight with a UA #.

I'm glad PHL posted that the answer to my original question is "no." Otherwise, I would have bought an AC ticket yesterday.

PHL is correct. Somehwere in the Ts&Cs it says that the UA flight must be on UA metal to earn US miles. UA Commuter flights are specifically included under the "UA metal" umbrella even though technically they're not operated by UA...
