For those people who are perpetually confused about the time change in Southern Brazil wondering whether it is 1,2, or 3 hours ahead of the Eastern US or 3,4, or 5 hours behind the most western parts of Europe I offer the following. BTW, that group includes nearly everyone I know.
Tonight time in the southern parts of Brazil (meaning most of the biggest cities) will lose an hour. We will thus be UTC -3 or two hours ahead of the Eastern US and three behind the UK.
