Virgin America Elevate - MCS middle seat or MC aisle?

View Full Version : MCS middle seat or MC aisle?

I currently have an MC aisle seat on an almost-full-in-coach VX12 SFO-JFK in early March.

If I'm able to upgrade to MCS at T-24, but only a middle seat is available, is it worth it? I'm more concerned with using my 15" laptop comfortably than with stretching my feet to relax.

Also, which is generally preferred: MCS bulkhead or MCS exit row?

Thanks!

Maybe, but only if you need the extra legroom and value the extras from Main Cabin Select class. Apart from the legroom, the seat is the same.

I guess what I'm looking for is feedback on whether with the normal Main Cabin seats, using a laptop with a 15" screen works. If the seat in front of me is reclined, will I be able to open the laptop screen on the tray table?

If the person in front reclines their seat in MC, you can pretty much forget about using your 15" laptop comfortably, if at all. I found it challenging to use my 11' netbook once the person in front dropped their seat.

With a 15 inch laptop I would definitely go for MCS.

Regarding bulkhead vs. row 10, I prefer row 10 so I can store things beneath the seat in front of me.

I took my first flight in 9 years( i am afraid of heights) and flew Virgin America from DFW to LAX. I upgraded to MCS for $55. I would say it is totally worth it. Really the upgrade is $30 as one bag is $25 regardless. I found the extra $30 got me more room, free food, free booze, and free movies.

I prefer the bulkhead row #3 in MCS simply because you don't get a seatback reclining in your face. :D

Bulkhead also has the trays in the bulkhead (Unlike other airlines that seem to either not have them at all or have the folding ones like FC). I actually preferred MCS bulkhead over FC for the most part. If not for it being a redeye that got me into IAD at 5:40 in the am I would have just stayed with MSC.

As for MSC middle vs MC window or aisle.. no brainer for the slight MCS upgrade fee its worth every cent.
