US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Another standby question

My daughter is in FL but will be returning in May. I want to fly down a few days in advance and then fly back on the same plane as her.

When I try to buy the ticket requesting that early morning flight the price jumps. It drops if I fly in the afternoon.

Can she stand by for a later flight or is there any other options for the two of us to fly back together?

I don't know about standing by, but hope you are checking multiple booking engines. I just bought tix for $285 on Orbitz for which US.com wanted $575.
