Singapore - Decent 4-5 star hotel at a decent price

I'll be in Singapore around March 13 for a week or so and I am really struggling to find a good and decently priced 4-5 star hotels... There are plenty of "4 stars" hotel in Singapore but a lot of them aren't that great... Location is not that critical to me as Singapore isnt that big to begin with.

Best rate I've found is around160 USD after tax but that is still a bit high for my taste.

Any advice or recommended booking site (I've tried everything I could think of) to find a better price? Or is there something special in town during that week?

Last time I was in Singapore I think we had a room at the Swisshotel for around that amount (130-140 euro), which we considered a pretty good deal...

The Sin$ has appreciated somewhat of late so pricing it in US$ won't do you any favours.

Travelocity has some deals - 25% off if you stay 4 nights etc. Studio M comes in at US$160/nt incl tax.

Maybe try Priceline?

Usually the 4* go for USD 100 or less.

It's run by Misa Travel, which is a local Singapore travel agent. These folks have been around for a while and are worth looking at for plane fares as well.

Another website you can look at is http://www.zuji.com.sg/

Take note though that Zuji is part of Travelocity so I'd presume that their rates won't be much better than what you can get from the US based web providers. BTW I am not recommending either website, however I suggest them from the perspective of having covered the bases. The above sites are Asian based, so this helps with due diligence in comparing results from other places.

The only thing that might affect hotel rates is that the week you're looking at the local schools have a week of vacation. This might encourage non-local relatives of such families to come down for visits, that sort of thing.

Try Australian site wotif.com. you can get a 'mystery' 5* for around 200 SGD all inclusive which probably meets the budget.

Try agoda.com, hotels.com and others.. Might have some ideas. I recently got good deals on 4-5 star places on both. SG also has some great boutique hotels that I have never been to but have heard good things about.
