US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Can we really use our miles for United awards?

I'm trying to get my parents from BWI to SFO this fall as an anniversary present using miles (Don't worry. I'm getting them a real gift too). I called US Res to book them on a United non-stop. Two flights a day, both 757s with no F seats currently assigned in a 7 day window outbound and a 7 day return window. No award seats available in F for use with Dividend Miles on any of those dates. They will allow the miles to be used for a double-connect on certain days.

So I gave up on that idea. Similar flight times when connecting through PHL. Sorry sir, the final leg is on a Dash 8 and we don't have any award seats available on that flight, although the other flights show plenty of F award inventory and that flight is wide open.

OK, we find a schedule that works for everyone and book it. Seat assignments? No sweat on the outbound, but the return is too far out at 198 days. Have not heard that one before. My gut tells me that one or both of those return flights won't be there in October.

But to confirm what others have said, the itinerary at VT says Envoy Class. Is this marketing? Is it a statement that there is no longer First Class service?

As always, very nice and helpful people. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
