Aloha!

Yes, another question. lol

We ended up inviting a relative along at the last minute and I booked a ticket just last night.

The problem is that website said that I can't pick seat on the flight to HNL due to time close to departure (Sunday) but within 24 hours before departure. Already have a reserved seat coming back home, though.

I have heard from various info regarding any airline in the past that if a person got a ticket booked very close to date of departure but dont have a seat picked ended up losing the flight because it's overbooked. Is this true?

Will this relative have better chance if we checked in way early at the airport if not 24 hours before? Please share your experiences. Thanks!

No need to go to the airport early. You can do this online during the check in window. I don't think you are going to run into an overbooked situation this time of year. Even HA's status pax have issues getting seat assignments in advance and that is even true if you call the phillipine call center and ask. The 24 hour window will work for you get get that seat assignment. If you want to pay for exit row or bulkhead...those seats are not assigned until 24 hours in advance so if you want a guaranteed seat...pay the 25 dollars and pick one of those seats. As a bonus that person will get a free head set (5 dollar value) and priority boarding. You could all get on early if you board with that passenger.

Good luck. It's muggy and VOGGY here now but the rain this weekend should help to knock that down so you have a good vacation.

The HA sticky/HA wiki above does not seem to be working and I have a question concerning seat assignments.

I have a First/Business class award on HA and my wife and I were assigned seats in the last row 3 and I am concerned that they will not have a full recline. I called today to see if I could move our seats. The reservation agent did not seem to have the ability to change my seat assignment. I checked on Expert Flyer to confirm that other seats are available. She took my information and said that she was forwarding it to "airport personnel" for possible changing. I could not fully understand if she was telling me that the system was down or not. Is this the standard procedure for changing seats on HA? Or perhaps it is because I have an All Partner award.

Can anyone provide me some feedback?

Thank you.

If I recall correctly Row 3 seems to have a bit less recline. That being said it's still better than anything behind you.

If you are on an award flight can you view your reservation and change seats?

Thank you for your reply. You are correct it will certainly be better than coach.

I am able to view my reservation, but I could not change my seats. I booked this flight with AA miles on HA via AA. I can view my reservation, but when I called the regular HA reservation number yesterday they could not change my seat. Based on your reminder I tried changing it on line and I receive a message that I needed to contact web support to change my seat. I was able to call them and successfully change our seats. I feel rather stupid, but I do not know why the agent did not tell me that yesterday. Today I was able to change the LAX to HNL portion. The HNL to SYD portion is fully booked, so I could not change that portion.

The bottom line for this issue is that appartently if you have a reservation booked with AA you need to call web support to do a seat assignment change.

I really appreciate your help and I am pleased with the end result. Thanks, again.
