Hi,

I am planning a trip to the Galapagos Islands. I have been looking around the various websites for recommended tour companies that offers land based travel to the various islands. One of the company that I came across is Zenith Travel which seems to be an Ecuadorian based company in Quito.

Am looking if anyone had any experience with this company and also thoughts on how is it to visit the islands from a land based tour.

Cheers!

HI!
There are definitely advantages to land based touring as well as Galapagos Cruises. Hotel-based touring allows you to experience a bit more of the local "culture" and social scene of the various inhabited Galapagos Islands and spend the days visiting other islands, but returning to your comfortable hotel afterwards.
I havenīt personally worked with Zenith, but I have booked both land trips and cruises through www.galapagosislands.com and Iīve had successful journeys each time.
The Penguin Pursuit program that we did had us visit Isabela, Bartolome, North Seymour and we stayed on Santa Cruz Island and Isabela. We got to see a little bit of everything: lava tubes, tortoises, penguins, boobies, the highlands and beaches.
Good luck and have fun!

I just returned from three weeks in the Galapagos, using landed based tours..
I highly recommend Christina Pez of Galway Travel in Santa Cruz..
She did an outstanding job in booking Yachts, hotels and land tours....
I am glad we went with this land based option.

Can anyone speak about Zenith travel? I'm just interested in using them to book a Ecoventures Galapagos cruise and nothing more (they're giving me the best price). Zenith gets some bad reviews on some of the other sites, but I'm wondering if those reviews aren't really relevant (as I'm not really using them for guides, etc. and am just looking to use them to put me on a cruise they don't run).

Hi,

Just for info for th rest, just went ahead with Zenith travel since they were the cheapest for the same itinearary compared to the others.
In general, they are very informative during the planning. You can ask tons of questions and they will answer quite promptly.
Payments can be in 4 different forms (CC is only possible if you have an Ecuador CC or you have to pay at the office due to limitation within Ecuador). I paid via wire transfer to their account in Miami and immediately after that I got the confirmation of the payment and later a couple of days later the voucher for the cruise and the Ingala card form for the airport.
All in all, rather satisfied with the service. If you do not like something, make it known, they will try and find an alternative.
I wanted to book a Cotopaxi tour with them after my Galapagos tour, but last minute decided not to due to time limitation here in Quito.

Base on my experience, I would not hesistate to use them again.

Cheers!

Anyone have any experiences with the galapagosislands.com travel agency? I see stuff on other forums, but nothing on FT. I trust FT more.
