Los Angeles - Where does United get its LAX soundtrack?

I love some of the instrumental covers of pop songs that are constantly playing on loop at LAX, but I'm wondering -- where does United get them from? Is there a CD or something I can buy on iTunes?

Recent hits include:
"Across the Universe"
"Michelle"
"Where Is Love" (although this might not be a cover -- it almost sounds like the overture from Oliver!)
"Memory", brutally murdered by a chamber orchestra with no chance of making it to the Heaviside layer (but other people are whistling along)
"My Favorite Things" on sitar and muted trumpet? (definitely NOT the Coltrane version)

I noticed that the music at UA LAX is retro now since January. Retro for me means back to the 40/50/60s. Don't know where it came from, but caused me to buy a couple of Frank Sinatra and Ray Conniff albums or whatever the call it now that it's on CDs. since I couldn't get the songs out of my head;)

These cheesy instrumental covers (which are particularly audible in the rotunda by gates 72-73 and in the T6-T7 walkway) are dreadful and an affront to musical artistry. It's one of the few things I hate with a passion about flying UA through LAX. Have you heard the renditions of "I Believe I Can Fly" or "I'll Make Love to You"?:td::td::td:

During the holidays, it's even worse. The stress level in the terminal is higher and the ambient holiday covers only add to it for me and create an atmosphere of what I can only describe as consumerist alienation.

Okay, maybe my rant belongs here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-mileage-plus/1092277-whats-stupidest-least-substantive-ua-related-thing-you-can-complain-about.html). But still, grrrrrr...

You certainly are much younger than me and I appreciate your dislike for this kind of music. As far as I am concerned better than Michael Jackson. We all have different tastes, music, food etc. I like it. But, granted, it could be a better mix.

Did you get an answer to your question? My only thought was to call UA's Customer Relations, unless you can find a number for their offices at LAX itself.

My semi-educated guess is that the music comes from either Muzak (http://www.muzak.com/) or DMX (http://www.dmx.com/), the two main companies that are in the business of providing music for "public spaces."

That means the individual songs may or may not be available on iTunes or elsewhere -- I know Muzak does have a library of instrumental versions of pop songs that they were responsible for producing (it's what they're most famous for), which aren't available to the public; however, the programmers for these services may also be finding commercially available instrumentals somewhere and adding them to the mix.

DISH Network. There's a receiver under gates 74/75. Not sure of the channel ---must be defined Muzak programming.

Used to be CD's --there were racks and racks of players. Most of the amp. gear is still there, but the feed is def off the DISH net.

Some people seem to hate it but I kind of like it in small doses. Walking from 7 to 8, I found myself singing along to "One Less Bell to Answer" ("One less egg to fry, and all I do is cryyyyyy . . . "). I guess the kitsch factor is not appreciated by everyone.
