I'm planning to spend a few days (midweek) in Palm Beach-- flying into PBI. I'll be by myself, and mostly just want to relax on the beach and read. Thinking about Breakers, Four Seasons, and Ritz hotels, and I'd appreciate opinions from anyone who's been there.

My criteria: 1) great location directly on a good beach. 2) A nice and quiet pool. 3) Relatively large, comfortable room. 4) not overly noisy or crowded. 5) good spa and exercise facility.

I'm trying to assess some critical reviews I've read: 1) Is the FS a conversion from some other hotel brand and not really up to FS standards? 2) Are the rooms at Breakers smallish with thin walls? 3) is the Ritz in a location that's too secluded?

Prices seem to be roughly the same, but perhaps one is best for me. Thanks for any suggestions.

i have only stayed in the ritz. it is down south in nowhere(as are most ritz). it is a convention hotel(as are most ritz). the staff has attitude(as are most ritz). i have only stayed in about 6 ritz for about 25 days total(wife's company paid). they all sucked. the place is probably not to bad just to sit on beach and read. as i recall noisy at breakfast place from machinery. much better than hawaii and naples.

I've stayed at the Breakers before. Gorgeous resort hotel. I didn't find the rooms particularly small.

I think there's extensive commentary on the Palm Beach hotels in the Florida and/or the Luxury Hotels fourms.

The Breakers.. we've stayed there for a conference.. excellent kids program, and if your kid is less than 5 years old, you can hire a sitter, and the sitter will shadow your little one with the kids program. They have an entire building dedicated to kids.

Excellent atmostphere.. their Sunday Brunch is excellent as well. I would highly recommend this hotel, and if you can splurge the dough, get the ocean front rooms.
