I was a BMI Gold for several years and still carry a bit of balance even after burning for the last 2 years with no crediting to my BMI account. I've dropped to Silver and am now about to drop back to general member.

In the meantime I racked up LH SEN as my *A carrier (also carry BA Gold for OW and DL Diamond for ST). I only really fly *A in paid J or domestic US in A, so an LH/BD system has always worked better for me in terms of earning in comparison to UA/CO. I ventured away from BD because I had so many terrible experiences with the call center. Now I am annoyed that LH upped their premium cabin award levels and am thinking about leaving for the first year of my SEN renewal (CY 2011). But again UA/CO just doesn't mseem to ake sense.

Sounds like DC might be on life support longer than we thought, so I wonder, is it worth coming back this year, earning gold on BD again? By my calculations the BD Gold bonus is small and if in J/A the real multiplier is the 200/300% earnings and I get that as a base member. Anyone else in a similar boat and have suggestions?

It's worth it if you think you can get over 55k status miles in your membership year as above 55k your status miles get converted to destinations miles so it's a good way to earn a crazy amount of miles.

Of course you still have the call centre to deal with.

Though it has improved over the past few years. I'd concur, if you get over 55k it looks like there is life left in Diamond Club yet. Having recently (last 3 months) transferred over to BA for domestic trips I'm wondering if it is now worth coming back but haven't made my mind up yet and wouldn't move until April when the fare structures change to improve domestic earning.

While most of the DC members here were worried about the merger, and started burning off miles, I stuck with DC and instead let my LH M&M dwindle from SEN to FTL. I'm over my 55K threshold now and will earn 2x destination miles till June.

People really have got to worry about more things than DC's merger into M&M.
