I would have been ok with being dropped to Silver, but nothing, that's an outrage. I'm glad I stopped flying these bums. Checked my AA status, and they only dropped me one level -- from Platinum to Gold. I can guarantee AA will keep my business. I just dropped from CP to Gold.. I didn't think the drop was formula-based - I thought it was just an automatic procedure. BUT - the 10 upgrades I supposedly had deposited in my upgrade account (according to the gold packet I received) are not there.. I'm about half way through the 20k mile challenge to regain CP by end of April.. be glad to get there! The flights between CLT and PHX that I fly most often because they aren't full are good chances for gold upgrades, but more and more I find these flights are having "mechanical" problems and getting last minute cancellations- and I'm getting pushed to the flights that ARE full.. This happened on both the outbound and return legs this week... geo1005 Mar 1, 03, 4:10 pm Originally posted by pitflyer: I just dropped from Chairman's Preferred on USAirways to NOTHING also. There is something wonderfully delicious about geo1004 / geo1005 being a CP and dg1 / pitflyer as a regular DM member. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif edit to add: I'll be happy to get you into the US Club now that your comp membership will probably expire as well. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif [This message has been edited by geo1005 (edited 03-01-2003).] pitflyer Mar 1, 03, 4:19 pm As per my club membership, it expired a while ago geo http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I made Chairman's the cheap way a few years ago, and since then no club membership for me. That's ok, flying out of Pittsburgh I usually spend my time in the arcade anyway. There are multiple challenges out there to aquire status. You guys cave on this you as bad as B. Ben Baldanza! Stay on their azzes. chemist661 Mar 1, 03, 9:28 pm I was only dropped down to Gold from Chairman's. I took the Chairman's challenge & I just have to buy 2 more transcons or one more Europe trip till the end of May. I did buy the Club membership at $200 at the end of January. (I also fly UA so the RCC would be handy for my UA flights). Maybe they only dropped me down to Gold because I already flew one trip to Europe in January. gnaget Mar 4, 03, 12:01 pm I spoke to a DM rep about getting miles over to my UA account. I told her, "BTW, if I don't credit anything to US this year then I'll drop to Silver next year?" "Oh yes, certainly sir, that's our policy." chexfan Mar 4, 03, 5:50 pm Originally posted by geo1005: There is something wonderfully delicious about geo1004 / geo1005 being a CP and dg1 / pitflyer as a regular DM member. The irony is truly amazing! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif I just got my Silver Preferred Packet in yesterday's mail, after flying 2 trips on US in 2003. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif This isn't really big news to me. Oh, well, I really can't complain, I haven't had a paid ticket since May 2001, when I was CP. Only one Miles ticket in Aug 2001. That'll happen when you get canned from your traveling job. For 2002, I avoided flying anywhere and succeeded, even with a 3-site Systems Implementation to support. Management is all too glad to have me offer alternatives to the financial plundering they would get having me get on planes out of CLT (my new home base...yecch...) My only gripe is now I have 200K+ miles on US and DL EACH and now I guess they don't convert to Hotel points anymore! ------------------ "You can never have too much Reverb." tcollins33 Mar 6, 03, 7:17 am My father-in-law had been a United 1K member for 13 consecutive years. Last year he had 78K and was dropped from 1K. He called to see what they could do and told him simply, "there's nothing we can do for you." I find it odd that the Chapter 22 group are doing these kinds of stunts. Exactly *who* do they want as customers? They're sending *very* mixed messages. geo1005 Mar 6, 03, 9:12 am Originally posted by Surfrider: My only gripe is now I have 200K+ miles on US and DL EACH and now I guess they don't convert to Hotel points anymore! Solution: Grab some friends and treat them to a long weekend in London. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Save enough in each account for an "emergency" ticket, though. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif CPRich Mar 6, 03, 12:00 pm Originally posted by tcollins33: My father-in-law had been a United 1K member for 13 consecutive years. He only had 37K miles last year (mostly paid F) and kept ExPlat for this year. Someone is keeping an eye on the revenue side of the picture. sbm12 Mar 7, 03, 12:30 pm I managed to GOM to keep gold for this year. But CO dropped me from Gold to nothing. Of course, I had 0 miles on CO so I can't blame them. Maybe revenue has something to do with it. tcollins33 Mar 10, 03, 9:52 am If revenue does have something to do with it, then my father-in-law should be that much more angry - the majority of his flights on UA were to Kuala Lumpur on short notice. He said on average they were about $7K... pitflyer Mar 14, 03, 12:13 pm Followup: After an email complaint about being dropped to anything, including a comment that I would be happy with receiving Silver Preferred, I was granted that for this membership year. I also received an explanation of the change in drop policy -- it used to be one level, period, but now they also considered how much you actually flew (which doesn't seem to explain some people who reported flying none and still only being dropped one level). All in all, while hoping to be Gold, I'm fine with being Silver and the opportunity for at least one more year to spill Sprite on chexfan and geo1005 up front. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
