All 5 of us are sitting by ourselves on the returning flight back because when I booked the flight a month ago, the flight was almost full already. I couldn't even get two seats together anywhere in the cattle class.
It is not really a problem but I have a 11 year old boy that I dont want to be sitting by himself. I do also have a young teen girl that i would be really uncomfortable if she end up next to a person that may not be safe.
Is it possible to switch seats if I ask nicely to someone on the plane? He have a middle seat and I have aisle seat a couple rows down that I would be happy to trade.
Have anyone does this?

Yes, noone in the right mind wants to sit next to a kid especially if you offer a better seat.
she end up next to a person that may not be safe
What on earth does that mean?

Asking politely to switch seats is appropriate if:
1. You're offering an equal or better seat in the opinion of the person who you are asking to switch. Aisle and window may be interchangeable to you, but not to everyone.
2. You graciously accept, "no," as an answer.
3. Under no circumstances should you first occupy the seat for which you want to switch.
If having your children next to you is important, why did you book the seats that you did in the first place?

It doesn't hurt to ask, of course.
But also, I know other airlines have a policy where they will seat you at least in pairs of 2 if everyone is on the same booking. In your case, they would sit 2 together and 3 together. I have no idea if Hawaiian has this policy, but it doesn't hurt to ask at the checkin counter.
This should hold some relevance:

Seat Assignments
Pre-reserved seats are limited by differences in aircraft seating configurations and seats with qualifications such as emergency exit rows. The common seats alike on all aircraft are the seats offered for pre-assignment.
Within 24 hours of departure, additional seats become available when the actual aircraft is assigned to a specific flight and the seat configuration is finalized. Pre-assigned seat availability should not be confused with your confirmation of a seat aboard the flight.
Hawaiian Airlines will do all possible to provide passengers with their preferred seating. Upon check-in at the airport, it is also our policy to make every attempt to seat children under the age of 12 with an accompanying adult. Prior to check-in, neither Reservations nor Web Support can guarantee seats together.

Upon looking at our seat arrangements, I am actually sitting just the row from him and I think it will work out with either person sitting next to him since both people have aisle seats just like mine and my boy just sit in the middle. I am not too worried. Somehow it will work out.
To a poster asking why didn't i book us as group. I would if I could. However, where we are from, only one flight daily to Hawaii, unlike bigger cities with more flights, hence the reason why this plane is fully booked. And we have to go back home on a Sunday before the kids go back to school.
Thank you everyone. Have a nice day.

Have found that seats on Hawaiian flights often open up. By checking the website periodically I usually am able to either secure a seat (when the flight is getting full they will not allow seat selection online) or change to a better seat.
If that doesn't work, ask at the counter, and as someone already mentioned, folks living in Hawaii tend to be nice and will more than likely trade seats, if asked nicely.
