Who is attending?

I am in Rio during carnival, and will probably hang out during the daytime at Ipanema beach around Posto 9 and Milton's Uruguay barraca.
I am parading with Alegria da Zona Sul on March 5. If anyone wants to join me, please feel free to PM me for details.

If anyone here is interested, we can arrange a FT mini-DO?

Do participate in the parade if you can, especially if you will attend at least one other night (so on that night you can see all of the schools, and not just yours). Closest I've come to particiapting in a Carnaval was in Binche, Belgium (origin of the word "binge") where I got to sit on a reviewing stand with the city officials, behind chicken wire (marchers throw oranges at spectators).

...and as this is Flyertalk:
I am flying to GIG this Saturday with JJ. I have flown TAM many times domestic, but never intercontinental. I am not really looking forward to it, but the alternatives are IB and AF :td:
The reviews of TAM are horrible on airlinequality.com, but I just want to confirm it on my own body. I am flying in the back of the bus (A330). 100% miles, though!

I have never done it in the back but I have with J and F, both of which are pretty decent to excellent, IMO, except for the ontime record and the quality of announcements. In flight I think they are really good up front.

I still do not know if I will be in town next week. If I'm here I'd be happy to meet whoever is around.

So, carnival is around the corner, partying has already started, street parties, bands and blocos playing everywhere, and beer vendors on every street corner in Copacabana and Ipanema.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I am parading with Alegria da Zona Sul on March 5th. There are a few tickets left. Both gringos and cariocas are welcome! PM me for further info.

If any of you guys want to meet up for a Devassa or Skol, just let me know :D

I think I would start out with a Ruiva, but it cannot rule out a sampling of the full spectrum of brews :D

That was my choice until India was introduced. I wonder how many brews were developed just because of a Novella? Especially because Ruiva is much like an IPA anyway.

At least you will have free booze in the back of the bus, and hopefully get a head start on your Carnaval celebrations.

Had. I am already here. BA serve a drinkable red wine, and Grolsch beer. Good enough for me. I don't think any of the airlines EU<—>Brazil charges for booze?
