Lets-Fly-Away last year was a moderate success for me; I was able to get 5K extra miles. This time it will be less as I will start flying KL after the March27 schedule changes much much less.

Didn't get an invitation but registering worked for me.
Last year's let's fly away promo didn't accept my FB number.
I am wondering why that is. I hit Platinum very easily last year and then shifted some flights over to Lufthansa to get FTL/Silver status there. I only flew 3 flights so far this year but have enough lined up for the quarter to easily be on track for Platinum again.
What about the others?

It seems like, as in previous years' targetted bonus offers, the internal database of those targetted has been set but the email system hasn't yet been able to send out all the notifications.
I guess those who are eligible (i.e. targetted) will be able to register, whether or not they've (yet) received the email; but those who are not targets will be rejected by the website.
Just a guess - maybe our resident FB/AF/KL IT expert* would confirm or deny?

This is again an offer consistent with AFKL philosophy of encouraging "segments". The offer is attractive to those who do a lot of cheap European flights. This is a different philosophy from other airlines like BA who tend to give offers to reward premium travel.

Xandrios
Feb 8, 11, 4:00 am
Because they are trying to achieve something; probably an increase in sales of a certain type of ticket. If you are one of the people who fit the profile, they will target you to buy more.
From what I see it looks like they target pax who fly mainly Intra-europe and depending on the expected number of segments per year, your bonus will kick in at a higher or lower number of segments than mentioned by the OP.
I still did not receive the email by the way, while I did register successfully.

Actually for me a quick hop to the UK is definitely worth getting the 5000 extra miles as I usually fly economy and short hops can earn you less than 200 miles per segment. I wonder if they only targeted people who already have a SMALL amount of segments booked for this period - as this will entice them to buy even more.

When I received this offer, I had no booking for March-May. I have/had 20 segments in Jan-February and only very few planned for March-May (~6) on AF/KL. But there's just no way they would know that! So it's a good wild guess. Unfortunately even 12000 Miles won't be enough to convince me: I'll be on the wrong continent.

If it's a targeted offer campaign are the people registering who haven't been targeted not in breach of some AF/KL Flying Blue membership T&C rule?
Acquiring miles by deception.
Could they not close the offender's account?
Yes I know if their IT systems allow it then they are open to abuse however fraud is fraud at the end of the day.

Theoretically an armchair lawyer might be able to argue breach of contract. It would become very difficult however to prove that the registration wasn't done in good faith however.
But this is completely besides the point. The system does not let you register if you were not targeted. If you were targeted, you are able to sign up. There are several reasons why you might not have received the invitation mail yet.
This means that the access control is working, as you can observe by the different posts here in this thread.

4000 miles for 6 segments
7000 miles for 9 segments
11000 miles for 11 segments
I have 5 KL segments booked for March and 0 for may. Thats gonna be pretty much it though due to KL's new schedules per 27March. I did plan on booking a number of CSA segments (OK flight numbers) but operated by KL. Does anybody remember from last year if these kind of segments count? And how about KL coded flights on non-KL equipment?
Doing a segment run as mentioned above is probably not worth it, as every segment equals about 1000 miles. Each mile is worth about 1 cent; so the bonus is about 10 euro per segment. I don't think a segment run is possible for less than 10 euro a segment..
ixs
Feb 9, 11, 7:32 am
Finally received the invitation. Seems earlier posters were correct in assuming that AF/KLM is spreading out the send process.
I am Platinum with seven segments booked so far for March and three for April. Nothing in May.
My thresholds were as follows:
Take 8 flights, earn a bonus of 5000 Award Miles.
Take 4 more flights, earn more with a bonus of 3000 Award Miles.
Take 3 additional flight(s), earn an additional bonus of 4000 Award Miles.
Adding it all up: 15 segments will give 12000 Award Miles.
The other postings here with different thresholds and the "X additional flight(s)" note would lead me to conclude that this promotion is _very_ flexible handled with a different threshold for everyone targeted. You do not template a singular word if it's not being used after all.

Hmm. Comparing Xandrios' and my own thresholds I can guess at the logic that was applied for this promotion.
In general what I have seen so far in this thread:
5000 miles/8 segments, 3000 miles/4 more segments, 4000 miles/3 more segments from Arthur Randolph who had no bookings at all. The same offer for me who had 7 bookins in March and 3 in May. NB00 and lowestpaidsap got the same offer it seems.
4000 miles/6 segments, 3000 miles/3 more segments, 4000 miles/4 more segments from Xandrios who had 5 bookings for March. This offer has already been received by SmooveG.
4000 miles/10 segments, 3000 miles/4 more segments, 5000 miles/4 more segments from carnarvon. I think he got his miles reversed tough as it is counter to every other offer where it goes highest, low, high instead of high, low, highest.
3000 miles/4 segments, 2000 miles/2 more segments, 3000 miles/1 more segments from dracularsa who had 6 bookings already for the period.
ahar mentioned some really strange thresholds which I think are incorrect, so I am disregarding his mail...
Based on this, there seem to be a few offers going around: 8k, 11k and 12k extra miles. The threshold limits are different in each case and seem not to be coupled to elite level.
Both Xandrios and I posted a detailed information about already booked flights:
Xandrios had 5 segments in March and has to take 6 segments for the lower threshold.
I had 7 segments booked and need 8 segments to reach the lower threshold.
Based on that, I'd say the lower threshold is calculated as (Num of already booked flights) + 1. If you do not have any flights booked for March, you are most likely not targeted.
But as Arthur Randolph didn't had any bookings, this is right out. I think they did look at past flying instead and not at existing bookings. How many flights did you have in January in February 2011? In March to May in 2010? Maybe there's some pattern there.
For me I only did three flights on KLM/AF this year so far. In the promotion period last year however I did 27 flights or so... To distinguish a pattern, more data is needed however... :-)

I have no flights currently booked so the word "additional" in the message is strange.
I did 4 segments in Dec/Jan just gone and before that, 4 segments in March/April last year.
I got 6000 extra miles (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13890620-post9.html) for the 2 segments which fell in April as part of some other promo even though I'd already booked the flights well before the offer came through.
Maybe I'm just lucky with FB. When I got caught up in the volcano trouble I eventually got re-booked into premium economy earning 100% miles rather than the standard economy 25% I would have got with my original ticket.
BTW I received my volcano-related expenses reimbursement last month.

January-February 2010: 2 AF segments
March-May 2010: 9 AF segments (including 1 TATL)
January 2011: 9 AF segments
February 2011: 10 AF segments
March 2011: 3 AF segments (all TATL) + bunch of DL domestic
So yeah, I had a jump between Jan-Feb and Mar-May last year, but it sounds a bit far-fetched to me. Maybe.

I was targeted as well, at 4000 miles/6 segments + 3000/3 + 4000/2. Nothing currently booked on AF/KL but 2 earlier segments this year and 15 last year, all intra-European. Possibly I got the offer because I flew with quite regular intervals last year, they expect me to do the same this year and want to squeeze out some more business if possible?
Anyway, the way it looks now I'll do 4 segments during the offer period. Nothing else planned and I suppose that it makes very little sense to pay for a trip to get 4000 extra miles. But I guess I can register anyway in case something comes up. No drawback to registering and then not meeting the threshold, right?

1 flight = 1 flight in either direction. For example, Amsterdam-Buenos Aires via Paris return equals 4 flights. In accordance with the Flying Blue programme rules, certain fares or tickets do not enable you to accumulate Miles or therefore to benefit from this offer. Only members who have personally received this email may benefit from the offer. The Bonus Miles earned thanks to Faster Miles will be credited to your Miles account in the weeks following the flights taken.

I emailed FB; their reply: "Volgens de voorwaarden dient u een vlucht te maken met Air France of KLM . Helaas zijn codeshare vluchten uitgesloten."
Translated as: Codeshare flights are excluded.
Its unclear if that means AFKL flightnumbers on non-AFKL equipment, or non AFKL flightnumbers on AFKL equipment...
I asked them in details about three example flights, but somehow they managed to reply in a vague and unclear way. Way to go FB.. Perhaps somebody can ask at the FB desk at AMS.. :)

I'm (re)-Gold for 2011 in France and got the following offer:
4 first segments 4,000 miles,
following 4 segments 3,000 miles,
next 2 segments 5,000 miles
The interresting thing is that I have no flights planned and my other half has booked 4 segments and didn't get the offer. Her FB number was also rejected after I successfully entered mine (got the mail as well).
I sure will fly with KLM/AF before May 31st :-)

I received the following offer (after becoming Gold for the 1st time ever):
-6 flights = 3000 miles
-3 more flights = 2000 miles
-3 more flights = 4000 miles
Before receiving the offer, I had 8 segments booked, including 1 on AF operated by FlyBe. I may book 2 more segments to reach the 9 flights limit but I don't think I will be able to reach the 12 flights limit.

11.000 extra award miles for flights between 1st of march and 31 of may 2011.
6 flights - 4000 bonus award miles
3 extra flights - additional 3000 bonus award miles
2 extra flights - additional 4000 bonus award miles
Good thing i already have 11 flights booked for that period.
Goodluck you all.
Today I recieved the first Award miles for the 6 flights and the 3 extra flights (4k +3K). Only 1 more flight to qualify for the last 2 extra flight to get the additional (4K).

Thats great, I would have expected all the miles to be credited at once at the end :)
I have done 4 flights so far; however in April I wont fly at all and due to the changed schedules late March I will be flying KL a whole lot less. I do have two roundtrips on AZ tickets for may though - Which contain segments on AZ metal, on KL metal with AZ flight number and KL metal with KL flight number. Nice mix-n-match :P
In the past it was possible to retro-credit flights on KL metal with non-KL flightnumbers using their KL flight number counterpart. Ie, an OKxxxx flight executed by KLM could be retro-credited as KLxxxx. Hopefully those segments will be counted as well :P

For the 2008 "Boost Campaign," my bonuses were received in three batches, with each award coming shortly (6 days) after taking the required numbers of segments. However, for the "Boost 2010 Campaign," the bonus was credited in one block at the end of the qualifying period.
This year, I haven't yet reached the number of segs for the first award (I've taken 4 so far but need 8 for the first 5,000 miles), but I have a batch of 8 flights over the Easter period: it will be interesting to see how and when the bonuses are given: I'm expecting the 5,000 after the first half of my trip and then 3,000 more on its completion - but there's only 3 days between the two lots of flights, so that'll no doubt confuse the FB machinery.

I did 10 segments in march and both awards came april 2nd.
6th segment for the first award was on the 25th, 9th segment for the second award on the 28th.
My 11th segment for the third and last award will take place on the 9th, so i presume i will see the award appear around the beginning of may if they indeed credit them at the end of the month.

In my case, the bonus were always credited about 4 to 5 days after the last qualifying segment. So you can give them a few extra days (knowing also that tomorrow is holiday in France). Were the regular miles of all of your 4 segments credited yet ?

My first 'batch' was credited 4 days after the relevant flights; it's now been 11 days since the subsequent qualifying flights - all of which have had their 'regular' miles posted to my account.

I am currently locked in a battle with FB on the correct calculation of the number of flights. The issue in question is this: I took a flight from JFK to DUS via AMS and back. The ticket was issued by Delta, but only the JFK-AMS flight was actually on DL metal. Everything else was flown by KLM. Interestingly, the flight from AMS-DUS also shows up as DL flight number in my account, while the flights back (DUS-AMS-JFK) appear as KLM. The three flights on KLM metal would bring me up to the required eight flights in total.
When nothing was credited I complained and got the explanation from FB that I had only seven flights. So what they did not count was the flight AMS-DUS (with the DL flight number). I told them that my reading of the rule (paid flights on KLM/AF) would not exclude a flight under a DL number if the flight was still flown on KLM metal. They then argued that the ticket was booked under a DL ticket number and therefore the flight could not be counted. Of course, this was contradictory to them counting the return flights to JFK via AMS in the first place. In any case, I told them that nowhere in the t&c was it specified that the ticket had to be bought with KLM/AF -- it just says: "paid tickets", which to me is to exclude award tickets but does not stipulate that the ticket can't be bought with Delta. In addition, their idea runs counter to the whole idea of Skyteam.
More annoying though is the fact that before I booked the ticket I called them and asked about this (because as an alternative I had an AF flight via CDG but with inconvenient times) and they told me that as long as I was flying on a KL plane, the promotion would apply. Now they apologize for this misinformation but won't do anything. I have asked that my mails be forwarded to a supervisor but it's the same person who keeps responding.
Any ideas on this situation? Am I wrong? And where can I complain -- surely they must have supervisors?
Thanks!

You have no way to win this. I don't have the T&C in front of me but I remember clearly for this offer and the one of last year that only AF- and KL-coded paid flights were eligible. DL-coded flights on AF or KL metal are not eligible.
Sorry, as this is probably not the answer you were expecting !

Jul 27, 11, 8:45 am
Thanks for that answer. I double-checked the t&c and they do not mention anything about coded flights. This is what is says verbatim (in German): "Angebot gültig für bezahlte Flüge mit AIR FRANCE oder KLM, die zwischen dem 1. März und dem 31. Mai 2011 durchgeführt werden." -- "Offer valid for paid flights with Air France or KLM that are operated between 1 March and 31 May 2011." Now, even though the flight AMS-DUS was under a DL flight number, it was operated by KLM. And that to me is the whole point. If they now say that it is required to have a KLM/AF ticket number or that flights operated by KLM but flown by me on a different flight number are exempted, then this is clearly something new. (Apart from the fact that I was told something different back in March when I called them). It's not even the lost miles that bothers me but the fact that they say one thing in their t&c and then later turn around on this. Plus, given that the issue is only one flight, I would have given a gold member the miles anyway just to keep him happy because he is obviously a frequent flier. But that would be me working in customer service and not them... :)

Jul 27, 11, 9:39 am
I don't think you stand a chance in front of fb. The text mentions flights and not planes, so I would actually understand AF or KL codes, and not planes. If you bought via DL, it's not AF or KL.
You can always try the legal way, but would be a bit costly with regard to the few miles you can earn and the very likelyhood you will not win that case

I concur with everyone here...
The ticketing number does not matter. It could be issued by DL but the flight number must be KL/AF xxxx as opposed to DL xxxxx (operated by KL). The fact here is that the marketing airline is DL ie money goes to DL and not to KL. If you want your bonus miles, your flight number must be KL/AF xxxxx marketed by KL/AF and operated by KL/AF.
Many of my tickets were issued by DL cos in US, KL is marketed through DL. But my flights were sold as KL flight numbers. And I got my points.
11 segments is one third of what I flew since the 1st of january.

Dear Mr IXS,
Congratulations! You are now on a faster track.
Fly AIR FRANCE and KLM between 1st October and 31st December 2011 and your Miles could accumulate faster than you believe*.
Book your upcoming flights now at www.airfrance.com or www.klm.com
Looking forward to welcoming you on board soon.
Yours sincerely,
Isabelle Birem
Director Flying Blue
* Offer valid on purchased flights completed between 1st October and 31st December 2011 on AIR FRANCE and or KLM.
So it looks like the rules are the same as last time. Yay!

That's what I did. Went to http://www.fastermiles.com/?lang=UK, entered my FB number and boom, got my confimation screen and the appropriate mail.
It's the same thing as last year: The system has a number of targeted FB numbers and everybody can sign in who is on "The List".
The invitation mails however are being send out with some delay...
So just give it a shot, if you can sign up, you're in.
I have 8 flights already booked (plus 4 more just before 1st Octobr) and I just may get another 4 in - but 20 flights in 3 months is quite a big ask!

Wow I just got this offer, came here to see if anyone else has it, then saw that it goes back to February?!?!
My lower threshold is 12 flights which I doubt I will do unless they include KQ, which they should after all as it is a full FB member. This also penalizes people who mostly do long haul. I could take 12 cheap short flights for less than the price of a business class long haul.

Same name ("Faster Miles") but not the same promo. The original one ended in May or so, this is the second run of the year from October to December.

No way this is going to happen, except maybe if you're on KQ metal which is ticketed under a AF or KL code.
There was a bit of discussion about this with DL codeshares. Look through the earlier posts in this thread, I do not remember the details.
It is my understanding that this is not a FlyingBlue promotion but a AFKLM promotion for _their_ FlyingBlue members.

Received an offer from 1 Oct to 31 Dec today, too.
11 flights -> 8000 miles
+ 3 -> + 3500 miles
+ 3 -> + 4000 miles,
so a total of 12500 additional miles.
What a pity I will not be able to make full use of this. This is a bit difficult when you live in BNE. I would really have appreciated this offer earlier this year, but at least it might well be the case I might end up with 11 segments.

I got almost the same offer as saraoutou.
11 flights = 8,000 miles
+3 flights = 3,500
+3 flights = 4,000
I was not target earlier this year. By October 1 I will have flown 43 segments, so asking for 17 segments is seems like an indirect message we want you to fly enough segments to requalify for Platinum. Though I doubt that I will fly only KL/AF and that many segments...

Invitation mail finally arrived. I've received the same offer as Henry:
12 segments = 7000 miles
+4 segments = +2500 miles
+4 segments = +3000 miles
=====================
20 segments = 12500 miles
Doing the numbers I have 8 flights already booked between the 1st of October and the 13th of November. I will surely have a few more flights so that I'll at least get the 12 segments. But I doubt that I'll fly 20 more segments as I just need 6 more to requalify for another year of Platinum.
The thresholds are much higher than at the beginning of the year with only slightly higher earnings... Not really worth it IMHO.

I received the same. Mostly due to the world deal weeks I had just a few hours before already booked 6 segments. Plus 3 I already had booked for the beginning of october makes 9 for oct-dec this year. Which equals 9 segments/5K miles, the second tier.
Funny note is that with the previous promo I did not even reach the first tier, which would have gotten me 5K miles. So instead of offering me more miles, they offer less miles and require more segments. Not a good way to make me book more with them..
I quite wonder who would actually book tickets with afkl instead of another due to this promotion. The only situation where i would do so is perhaps if there is no price difference, fitting times and I would just need one extra segment to reach the next tier. After all, those 5K miles are only worth about 50 euros..

Some have got a 7 or 11 flights offer. Seems not that odd. It basically "forces" you to buy an even numbered number of flights i.e. 8 or 12 (if you forget about a possible unused leg).

Actually, I've had a number of 'full' KL TATL itineraries in the past that comprise 5 segments; typical is a GLA-BOS roundtrip, which often comes out as: GLA-AMS-BOS + BOS-DFW-AMS-GLA. (Actually, as 2 of these segments would likely be on DL metal, it would probably only count as 3 flights - but 3 is every bit as odd as 5).
But I still maintain my puerile assertion that there is something inherently odd about an uneven number! :p *

* For those who don't fully appreciate the pun: The English word, "odd" has several meanings; the two I'm here punning can be translated, respectively, into French/Dutch as: curieux/curieus and impair/oneven.

Interesting. I was targeted but could sign up right away without waiting for the invitation mail. Maybe they are doing targeting in batches too.

I do not expect this to happen. FB had a status match for nearly every important FFP earlier the year in which they matched up to and including Platinum Level. I'd be surprised if they need inflate the number of Platinum elite flyers. They are still offering bonuses for people referring a new FB member to BlueBiz customers but that's about it and this should come to an end this month as well.
It looks very much like it is just about flying and creating some revenue this year and lower requalification thresholds are unnecessary.
Unfortunately this would lead me to believe that with FB loyalty only flows one way...

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have had any problems getting seven segments or more on AF or KL in three months, but as luck would have it, I am going to be in BKK from mid-October until at least the end of the year, with no trips back to Europe planned. 4000 miles is definitely not enough incentive to go to PNH 3 1/2 times. There aren't any other AF or KL destinations that will be of use to me, are there?

My offer requires 12 flights at the lower threshold. I have already flown 21 segments, or 7 flights per quarter. I don't think it is fair to ask me to do 12 in the final quarter, nor realistic to motivate me with a few thousand measly miles.
I'd much rather give BA my Q4 business as their promotion is 20,000 miles or more per business class return.

Hello,
Does anyone know if French domestic flights will be counted as flight segments for the faster miles promotion.
They are usually not counted towards level (status) flights (those that determine how many you need to be silver, gold or platinum), but they do earn miles like regular flights.
In the faster miles promotion, they say that all mile-earning flights are counted.
So I will have 14 flights between October and December, but these include 2 flight segements from Paris to Nice.
Thanks for your input.

Has anyone else received an offer? I'm still waiting for mine, and so seems every other FB member I know (quite a number...)

These are not randomly pulled out of a hat I believe. I have only received these offers when I didn't have any future flights lined up (or only done a very few).
As I have my calendar pretty much filled up with booking until mid-April I guess I won't receive this offer either as it clearly is to gather interest in flying (i.e. contribute some needed revenue to KLM/AF)...

I've not received an offer (yet) this year, but I did last year, when I already had enough forward bookings associated with my FB number to reach the first "hurdle" in the challenge. It didn't convince me to add any more bookings, though!!!

I received two promos last year.
In both cases I already had plenty of bookings in my name as well. The second time someone with exactly the same (no of) bookings did not receive the offer...

Received nothing from FB. Actually, I did not get any offers from them since 2009/2010...

Today I received an email "An exceptional boost to your Flying Blue rewards"
1500 extra miles after the next 2 flights
1500 extra miles after the following 2 flights.
Offer valid on eligible purchased flights completed between 01/03/2012 and 30/06/2012 with AIR FRANCE or KLM

Mrs KQ321 (FB Gold) received the same offer today. She has several forward flights booked and associated with her FB number, but none that would qualify for this offer.
It annoys me somewhat that these offers are limited to "eligible purchased flights completed between 01/MM/YYYY and 31/MM+3/YYYY with AIR FRANCE or KLM". I can understand that it is not extended to all SkyTeam flights, but given that FB is also the Frequent Flyer Programme for Kenya Airways, Tarom and Air Europa (and Aircalin), it seems strange that KQ, RO and UX flights do not qualify for this offer.

Thats because this is not a Flying Blue offer, rather its a AF/KL initiative. They offer the miles and hope in return for more bookings on their metal.

It looks like this promotion has been restarted for this year.

Thanks ixs! I signed up and the website states "You're now on a faster track. Profit from your Faster Miles right away. Book Air France and KLM to fly between 1st May and 31st July 2012 now."
I just got a confirmation email, but it doesn't state any conditions, i.e. how many segments do I need to fly in order to get some award miles! Lol

The information provided is not correct. Only members who have personally received this email may benefit.
Crap. Until now I was targeted at least once a year, and I have quite a lot of AFKL flights lined up. Perhaps they have gotten smart and decided to not include the people that already have reservations in their name :P Assuming their goal is to make people book more flights..

I tried to register and it worked.
So now the questions is....whats the promo haha. I already booked some flights and will fly 5 segments in june.
*** EDIT ***
Even got conformation e-mail now, but it states:
** Geldig voor daadwerkelijk geboekte en gemaakte vluchten tussen 1 mei en 31 juli 2012 met KLM en/of AIR FRANCE
translation: Valid for actual booked and flown flights between may first and 31st of july 2012 with KLM and/or AIR FRANCE.
So basically you get an e-mail. Have to wait an entire month before booking (so the ticket will become more expensive), and then booked it on may first and fly within 60 days...hmm.... I will try to get the miles anyway, see if that works

So I just got the offer:
9 flights 4000 miles
+4 3000 miles
+4 3000 miles
"Offer valid on purchased flights completed between 1 May and 31 July 2012 on AIR FRANCE and or KLM"
I already have 8 segments booked for that period and at least 3-4 planned & not booked yet; and likely at least 4 more in the pipeline

I just got the same e-mail. Sorry I find it ridicules, 9 segments in a three month period. Last year I had 2 segments. I'll never get this promo.

I just got the same email, but unless they are overly generous and count ST partner flights I seriously doubt I'll see anything from this promo.
The thing that gets me is KQ is a full member of Flying Blue. And the email came from Flying Blue. But KQ flights don't count? A question for April 26th I think!

Got exactly the same offer. 10,000 award miles for 17 flights is not even 600 miles per flight. What kind of an incentive is that?

I got an e-mail offering 2500+2000+2000 for 5+2+2 flights 1/5 - 31/7.
That overlaps with the previous offer of 1500+1500 for 2+2 flights 1/3 - 30/6.
I'm not intending to go anywhere though.
