A stylish article on Buenos Aires. (Not a 3 perfect days-type article)
Just don't necessarily follow their directions, i.e., "Tourists and stylish locals stroll Calle Defensa from Recoleta to the bustling neighborhood of San Telmo."
Strolling from Recoleta to just the start of Calle Defensa (at Yrigoyen) would be about 30 blocks... then add another 10 blocks to get to San Telmo.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised when a writer forgets to check facts- or perhaps an editor edits for "clarity", while changing the facts.

Sometimes, the writer has never even been. (Of course, I have no idea about this particular story.)

I have been several times in EZE in the last few years and have indeed strolled from the apartment in Recoleta/Barrio Norte to San Telmo.
I have not seen many stylish locals but have seen quite a few tourists especially on Sundays, making their way to San Telmo.
It is actually a very pleasant and interesting walk.

Yes, but if you can find the start of Defensa in Recoleta, I'd be inclined to gift you my San Telmo apartment.

I get it;
I just assumed he meant walking from Recoleta to La Defensa and from there to San Telmo; I think La Defensa ends/starts at Plaza de Mayo, is that correct?

Or Sunday evenings in early September heading to La Brigada for Cow Do.
I've walked Recoleta to San Telmo before as well. I would think the author meant more people walk along between various sections between those points. Not the whole distance.
