Hi folks,

First post after reading a bit about certain RR 2.0 changes. I have two standard award trips in my account that are expiring soon and I am looking to just clarifying on how I could extend them. So, according to RR 2.0 this is what I understand I could do:

Award #1: Expiration date 2/8/11 . . looks like I will have to renew it $50 prior to expiration date and have until 2/8/12 to use it. Otherwise, it's gone. *no more expired buffer time*

Award #2: Originally renewed once in 3/2/10 and is set to expire 3/2/11. I must also renew for it to expire 3/2/12 and can only renew it ONCE. Otherwise, also gone.

If anyone could confirm this, that would be great. Thanks again for anyone's help and look forward to the responses.

My understanding is that you can renew each reward one time on/after 1 March 2011.

If you want to maximize the duration of your rewards, you could renew each one once before 1 March 2011, then once again after 1 March 2011. Note tha you can renew awards expiring within six months, you don't need to wait until the actual expiration date.

Extensions are good for 1 year from renewal date, not one year from expiration date.

As I understand it, you have until 2/7/12 to reissue number 1, and 3/1/12 to reissue number 2. However if you want to allow for the possibility to pay ANOTHER $50 each for reissuance as late as February 2013, then you can reissue your awards before March 1, 2011.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Chester86!

I mostly second what nsx posted, except that my understanding has always been that endpoints of one-year and two-year periods are always included at SWA. So the drop-dead deadlines for extending would be 8-Feb-12 and 2-Mar-12.

For awards issued prior to 01-Mar-11, the reactivation window has been cut from 2 years to 1 year; it has not been eliminated.

Awards issued via conversion of RR 2.0 points to RR 1.x credits cannot be extended at all.

I don't recall that rule. I think we need to add that to post 1 of the mega-thread and to the Wiki.

It is difficult to remember all the tidbits; I had to check the newRR FAQ (http://www.southwest.com/newRR/faq.do) to be sure I had that one straight before I included it in the post above. Here is the relevant portion:What are the rules for a Standard Award earned after the launch of the All-New Rapid Rewards Program?
Awards earned after the launch of the All-New Rapid Rewards program, by converting Rapid Rewards Points into Rapid Rewards Credits, have the same rules/restrictions as a Standard Award from the old program, with an expiration date 1 year from date of creation. These Standard Awards earned after the launch of the new program are not extendable.
