I got the latest email from US. That deal to AMS got me thinking a little bit. I'm silver with CO but could pull off an AmEx MR transfer to get my wife and I to AMS.

How's the service? Is it worth it? A standard reward to Europe in CO's BF is 100,000 miles. 70,000's not too bad.

The service is great. The plane is lacking.

As has been discussed (perhaps beaten) to death in the past, the PHL-AMS service is operated by a 767. Envoy on these does not have the 14 way power seat on the A330, nor does it feature the Sony P@ssport entertainment system. The IFE is a 8-track looped thing.

My take on it is like this: it's better than coach http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif and still a good value at 70k.

On the other hand...

There is a small but vocal minority that actually prefers the 767 Envoy Class, IFE notwithstanding. This elite group refers to the A330 Envoy seat as the "dentist chair." It can position you in a variety of positions, but each is a different variety of pain. With the enforced recline, dinner and libations seem so very far away...

We are in violent agreement about economy 330 vs. economy 767, though.

Hmmmmm, I'm gonna be about 12,000 miles short. Any ideas on how to launder or get miles over to US?

If all else fails, you can always buy the miles from points.com (IIRC). However, I'd check http://www.mileageworkshop.com and http://www.usairways.com/dividendmiles/earningmiles/index.htm to see if any of those partners and/or programs can meet your needs.

Unless I'm not reading it properly, that's a nice way to totally devalue your miles!

Thanks for the help Cx4. I saw this as a good opportunity to check out US's premium product but I think I'd be better off doing the MR transfer to CO, get the 25% bonus, then go with NW for 80K each. Net effect to my OnePass account would be <5,000> miles.

On a CO note: Have you ever tried to actually redeem miles on CO flights with your CO miles? Many people have found it to be horribly difficult... Some have found the best solution is to redeem only on partners.

There is also the possibility that miles can be moved from CO to Hilton to AA to Diners Club to BA in case DC repeats the 1:1 xfer promotion. I asked about this possibility (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum15/HTML/002527.html) on the BA board but got no response... It looked like it might be an easy way to clear 200,000 CO miles and never have to call OP again...
