I was trying to find a decent First Class fare from PHL--->SJU for April and I found a fare that I liked and even better it was on an A330. However, when I went to purchase the ticket, usairways.com would not let me pick row one which is the only first class row on a A330. Instead they wanted me to choose a Envoy class row. Is that because they do not use First Class on domestic routes or is Envoy first class on domestic runs and First class is reserved for elite passangers? Please advise.

Domestic f/c on an A330 is the Envoy cabin. Recent company materials, however, seem to reflect that row 1 is available for certain highest-tier flyers and certain preferred corporate accounts.
dalbert--are you a us elite? if so, you should be able to ask for row 1.
row 1 is reserved for any elite on transatlantics beginning feb. 1. i have it on a flight to frankfurt next week.

No I am not an elite with US Airways, but I had purchased a full fare First Class Ticket to Paris this summer, does that mean I am going to be sitting in Envoy while paying for a Full Fare First Class ticket? Please advise.

Wow . . . how did you do that? "F" was discontinued as of 2/1/03. You deserve several thousands $$$$ refund. If you shelled out for "Full Fare First Class", switch to AF.

I had purchased the ticket way back over the summmer and did not think that they would cancel the service on me. What should I do? I called US Airways and the women I spoke with although very nice was not the most helpful as she did not know the policy and she did not want to cancel my reservation if she did not have too.

Sitting back in "envoy." You make it sound like it would be sitting with the rats and dirt. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

No not at all, I just would not want to spend $11,000 and change when I can spend $5,000 and change for the same seat. I have never ever flown in a fully flat seat and when I purchased this ticket, I was so excited. Plus, after seeing the food served in First Class to and from Paris on Airlinemeals.net I was a little dissapointed. I have asked for a refund and it will post soon or so thay say. Instead I have decided to book in Envoy which many people tell me is more comfortable and the food is better than Air France.
Reprice your paris trip in full J/envoy. If there's a difference in what you paid, get the refund back from USAirways. Then, with a full J fare, you should still be able to request fow 1 and get it before an elite gets it. The difference is you will still have the fully flat sleeper in a private cabin (1 row). I don't think they use that front galley anymore, either, so it should be pretty quiet.
Also look into the bonus codes - a full fare trip across the Atlantic can reap many, many points.
