This option is available under your Dividend Miles profile on the US Airways site.

Why would someone want to separate their accounts? What is the benefit?

Color me stupid, but mine has _always_ been different, I think.

OK, now I am getting confused. After your phone number in the "Update Profile" portion of Dividend Miles, do you see the following? If so, again, is there any benefit to combining/separating profiles?

usairways.com profile:
Username: XXXXXXXXXX

(check box) Separate my Dividend Miles and usairways.com profile accounts

Well, I am not giving up this easy. I too use my DM# and PIN for DM, and a username and password for usairways.com reservations. However, my accounts appear to be linked, with a box that I can check to de-link them (see message immediately above). I do not recall how or why they were linked.

1. Does anyone else have a "Separate my Dividend Miles and usairways.com profile accounts" option under their profile?

2. If so, does anyone know why anyone would choose to link or de-link them?

3. I have a persistant problem when I make reservations for someone else on usairways.com. The system always seems to place my Preferred Number on their reservation, even though I manually typed in their number. As we speak, I can check a reservation made for my father on virtuallythere.com and see my number on his reservation. No big deal, and he will change it at the gate. But could this be due to some bizarro interaction between my linked usairways.com and Dividend Miles accounts?
