If we send in all of our paper systemwides, how is USair going to handle e-upgrades for international travel? I want to go to Europe this summer, but if I send in all of my systemwides, will I be able to upgrade come June? Are you guys just keeping some paper systemwides in your possession?

I have 4 SYS02's and 2 companions.

Eupgrades are only going to be for domestic travel so don't turn in your SYS02's.

Rumor has it the new "Systemwides" will be called "Transatlantic" upgrades and only good for hops across the pond. Of course for CP's it has always been that as we get free domestic UG's.

I also kept all of my Systemwide upgrades. Hopefully, I'll get to use them. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I've got 6 SWUs and 2 "companions."

Two of those are going back to get turned into miles (expiry of 2/28). I'll hang onto the rest.

I also have a SWU expiring on 2/28. Looks like it won't be used. Can it be converted into miles (as CP e-upgrades redundant? is it the same process as for turning in the paper upgrades?

Yes.

If I don't use all 4 of mine on my upcoming trip, I'll turn them in. I think they're worth 2K miles each.

I asked the CP desk about that. They said you could turn them in, but they're only worth 500 miles each. I'm going to save mine until I'm sure I won't need them, and then dump 'em for 500 each.

This is incorrect. The website clearly says they are treated the same as NAU's but think twice before redeeming them for miles.

In other words they are worth 2000 miles thru 1/31 and 1000 miles after. Note: CP desk has given others the 500 miles story as well. It is wrong per the website and other people's experience.

I believe the CP desk means 500 account miles, as anyone gets when turning in an about-to-expire upgrade certificate, not e-upgrade miles, exchanged 4:1/2:1.

I'm keeping all of mine, as is Mrs. Dingo. We're hoping for some good non-ESaver fares to be able to use them, so it's worth the roll of the dice.
