Received an email today from the AA Dining program. This isn't the biggest bonanza ever, but every little bit helps as I gradually climb my way towards AA LT Plat (I've got less than 100K to go):
Earn double AAdvantage® miles up to five times by dining at participating restaurants through March 31st and completing your reviews. Do you take your AAdvantage® miles seriously? Then register for the Make It a Double Bonus and start earning double today!
Sign onto the AA Dining website and look for a link to "Make it a Double Bonus" to register.
There was nothing in the email I received that made it look like a targeted offer, so hopefully it's open to everyone.

Earn double miles on up to 5 dines. (Link (http://aa.rewardsnetwork.com/bonus.htm?id=A404&detail=y))
Not as good as United's offer, but at least it's something. Ends 3/31/2011
ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
Earn double AAdvantage® miles—and keep 'em coming with the Make It a Double Bonus. You can double the AAdvantage® miles you earn on your next five dines by simply completing your dining reviews.
Online members will earn 6 AAdvantage® miles for every dollar spent dining, and VIP Members will earn 10!
Here are the steps to follow:
1 Register for the Make It a Double Bonus*
2 Dine at a participating restaurant by March 31, 2011
3 Complete your dining review within 30 days of your visit and double the AAdvantagee® miles you earned for dining
4 Repeat for up to 5 dines total

I got the same email. Double miles 5 times, as long as you write reviews for each one. Didn't seem targeted. The places we normally eat at cost about $50 for dinner for two. That's good for about 1250 extra miles. :-)

Got it too, for both my account and the wifes! Not the best bonus ever but certainly beats the plain old 5 miles/$ we've been getting lately...

Saw this night on the AA Dining website. Going to haul in a bunch of miles on this one -- some of my favorite places in Austin are on the list.
Also useful for Las Vegas. Scored almost 1k miles there recently because a nightclub and restaurant that I frequented were on the list.

Also received the email. Does anyone know if it would also work for GC's, based on previous AA dining promos?

I'd be happy to meet you in Austin to earn miles. I live near Mopac.183. :)
FWIW, Lick it or Bite it or Both is on the list, and it's our favorite cupcake place - better than Hey Cupcake - and my daughter wants them for her birthday party this month. w00t!

If you like this promo and you haven't dined 5 times by its expiration, consider buying a gift certificate for a restaurant you like before the expiration and dine after. When there was a promo for double miles on Monday-Wednesday, if we were dining on a weekend, I'd go in earlier in the week and buy a gift certificate to use on the weekend. As long as the restaurant uses the same credit card system for gift certs and dining, you should be fine.

TCBY in Austin on MLK is also good for dessert =) I stopped there earlier this week.
Thanks! ^ Sure wish I had better places to eat in my area but I'll take what I can get.

Flyertalk meetup? :)
Absolutely! I'm north/central... but can go anywhere. Should we start a separate thread for a meetup in Austin for dinner around this promo? If we did something in the domain, we could do dinner, then do desert at LIOBIOB (Burnet/Braker) for 2 qualified dines.

I'm downtown but same as you - can and do go anywhere. Let's try it and see if we and roust out some other Austin FT'ers too! Would be fun.

This bonus only works on 5 dines maximum! How in the world are you going to make a "bunch" of miles on a number of different places in Austin and Las Vegas? The only way I see to make a "bunch" of miles is to only get this bonus on really big dines or big gift card purchases. (It sounds like you can choose which dines to get the bonus on by which ones you rate vs which ones you don't.)

Consolidating purchases around large dining out orders and gift cards. 5 dines is fine ... I'll take what I can get.
And just like that Hilton's bonus goes out the window for me.

I was curious enough about that to call up a CSR and confirmed that it was not the next five dines, but the next five dines that are rated. It's a relief not to have to bunch up 5 high dines to maximize this. Of course, a CSR's verbal confirmation is not quite the same as a written guarantee, so proceed at your own risk.

I am pretty sure this is accurate as the bonus miles are awarded upon completion of the survey only. This is how it was last time.
Thanks, toast, for weighing in with confirmation. Hope you Austin Do is a blast....I recall that I did some Idining when I was in Austin two springs ago.
I'm one more dine away from VIP status. I was going to wait till I pick up two slices of pizza tomorrow at my usual dining rewards place and then register for the promo to get the 10 miles/dollar bonus. But if it's based on finishing the surveys, then I'll register and only do the surveys for my highest dollar dines. Would this work?
And I never even thought of a gift card. I'll have to see if the pizza place sells those. I also have my brother's credit card signed up onto my account because he dines at Qdoba like burritos are going out of style. Every Qdoba in the Indy area is on the dining program and being a WN guy, the dining rewards are sort of worthless for him so I benefit. Maybe I'll have him buy a large gift card on me there as well.

This should work, but no reason to wait. Go ahead and qualify for VIP status...

Howdy folks - We actually have an iDine-specific forum that discusses these types of promos and their "intricacies." Now that we've let this sit in the AA forum for a few days so that people here can be aware of this new promo, we'll soon be shipping it off to it's new home in the iDine/Rewards Network forum where it can be merged with the existing thread over there. :) Thanks! /Moderator

I managed to pull off a coup and book Valentine's day dinner with my lady under this promo. Should I be concerned that I went through the time and effort to find a place that qualified in the LA area? I figured that since I was dropped a couple hundred bucks on dinner that I should at least get miles...
Also, of secondary importance, discovered later that I received 1,000 Opentable points. Success!

Went to dinner with a production I was working on, the director offered to pick up the whole bill as an expense - 20 people - prob. would have hit the $1000 max spending. Couldn't help but think of the 10,000 miles going to waste... sad. sad. sad.

I can actually confirm this in in real life now. While in LA I dropped 336 bucks on dinner and made sure that was the only survey that I posted. Sure enough, the bonus miles were posted when everything posted to my account.

I dined twice since this promotion started. I got the miles and bonus for the first dine together. For the second dine, only the miles posted and not the bonus. Don't they usually post together?

It depends when in the week.
The issue is: If a dine posts to RN a day or two before it's going to be "paid" to the airline (say, it first appears on RNs site around Monday), then by the time you do the survey it's too late for that week, and so the bonus (which is dependent on completion of the survey) can't post until the next week.
But if the dine posts several days before it's going to be "paid" (say, before the weekend), then you're lkely to have time to do the survey in time for them both to be "paid" (ie, posted to the airline) together.
(And I presume that's what you mean by "posted" -- posted to the airline. They cannot possibly post at the RN site at the same time, because you have to do the survey for the bonus, but the survey is not available until the dine itself posts to RN.)

These require rating the dine first, then they batch post. They do take time:
19 and 23 Feb dines posted to RN, I have rated them, and by 8 Mar they had both posted with bonus miles to American Airlines. 3 and 4 March recently posted on RN, and have been rated and 3 Mar has posted to AA (not bonus miles); 10 Mar has not yet posted to RN, so I can't rate it yet.
I'd say that's pretty typical.
